Rye and E. F. Benson in Corduroy Mansions

Alexander McCall Smith has written a chapter in his online novel entitled 'Rye" and makes a reference to E. F. Benson and Mapp and Lucia.

He also mentions the Mermaid Inn where the Friends of Tilling Gathering was held in September :-)

I read Corduroy Mansions on line every day and just love it!
As a matter of fact, I just finished reading the chapter mentioning Rye.

Yes, he gave a lovely speech after dinner. He also kindly sent me a handwritten note afterwards about Major Benjy. What a charming man! I am just about to read his The Sunday Philosophy Club.
