Has anyone read Mishima's Kyoko no Ie (Kyoko's House)?
If so, what did you think?

To my knowledge the book has never been translated into English, undoubtedly because it was not a success in Japanese. But that very failure has made me curious about the book, and I wish to know more about its quality as literature.

Mishima had a confidence in Kyoko no ie. He was trying to write about 'time' when people believed that post wold war Ⅱ age was ended. He wrote somewhere that 'I concentrated everything I had on this work'. But, on the contrary to his confidence, many critics did not highly evaluated this work and this book itself didn't sell much.
As for me, I don't think this book is 'failure'. This work also demonstrates the genius of Mishima even though I can say that this is a little too decorative.

Thanks, Charles Swann. Now I want even more to read the book. Evidently I must first learn Japanese.
