If so, who are your favorite authors? Favorite historical fiction novel?

My favorite authors are Jean Plaidy, Philippa Gregory and Mary Doria Russell. I think it would be impossible for me to choose just one as a favorite, there are so many time periods and subjects that are interesting.

I'm new- live in the Dekalb Co.

I love historical fiction and I visit the library bi-weekly to replenish. Here are some of my favs: Year of Wonders, pillars of the earth and its sequel, Katherine, the Outlander series, and Here be Dragons

I know this thread started a long time ago but my favorite local artist is David Fulmer. If you have not read his stuff, you really should!

The interesting aspect of historical fiction is the linkage of actual events to fictional characters involved in adventures often more interesting than the actual events leading up to and after the event embedded in the work.

I think that an interesting aspect of historical fiction is the true facts surrounding events are usually known but how those facts are twisted and presented in a storyline makes the work extremely interesting.

Have you read any other books by Anya Seaton? I loved her book Green Darkness. It is set in a different time period than Katherine but it is really good. Sort of a mixture of fantasy and historical fiction.

I am currently reading When Christ and His Saints Slept by Sharon Kay Penman. It is my first Penman book, and while only 300 pages into a 720 page book I am liking it. This is for a group read over on the group read part of the 76'ers Group.

I found it an interesting coincidence that I just finished listening to the recorded version of The Red Queen by Philippa Gregory on Friday and on Monday I woke up to hear that they had positively ID'd Richard III. I have White Queen on my shelves and will certainly be reading this one soon.
