Silversi Checks in Sometimes...

Hi all. I haven't checked in for a while so thought I would now. At the bottom of this I'll post a new photo of Jim (Karlstar) and my almost 7 month old granddaughter Faerynn Meadow. We recently drove to Indiana for a visit, took her to the pumpkin patch to get her first pumpkin and then out to eat at her first restaurant experience. She was awesome for both. Such a good baby. She rewarded us with a half crawl (got up on all 4's and scooted to her mommy) and a nap on her grandma. She chose a new miniature for her grandpa to paint at the game store and she received new learning toys, so all in all it was a great trip.

As for reading, I finished Brandon Sanderson's Skyward, which I thought was pretty great for a YA sci-fi. I enjoyed his characters and the entire story quite a bit.
Right now, I'm listening to Stephen King's Fairy Tale. I'm a few chapters in, not sure I understand the title yet but I have no doubt that he'll get to it.

Faerynn is at a beautiful age. She is beautiful.

Good luck with your new thread. Good to see you back.

She is wonderful, thank you for the kind words :-)

Apparently there are sequels to the Sanderson book so I will probably pick those up... and just had Daughter of Darkness by Terry Brooks delivered to my Kindle. I'm attempting to get a lot more reading in now since I had my cataracts taken care of in July. I still need reading glasses but I'm very happy with being able to see street signs again! Reading was getting very difficult for a while too so now I think it's just about habit forming again.

Beautiful wide-open eyes and a curious expression. Ready to learn new stuff every minute. Congratulations! Plus I love the shirt.

Thanks everyone. She's also up to 6 teeth now! At this rate she'll have a steak dinner for her first birthday. Still hard to believe that this time last year we were anxiously awaiting the next doctor appointment to see if we'd get an ultrasound picture lol. Now my daughter sends me daily pictures (Which I greatly appreciate) and occasional video chats so I can just stare at her haha.

Our other granddaughter started Kindergarten this year and seems to be doing well there too. They aren't lying when they say times moves so fast during this time in your life.

Book talk - Recently finished Daughter of Darkness by Terry Brooks. This series verges on a YA story, which must be why I enjoy it—currently listening to both The Choice by Nora Roberts and Fairy Tale by Stephen King. They're both good, though Fairy Tale is a bit big sloggy.

Personal stuff - Our young granddaughter, Fae, recently said "mommy" and my daughter caught it on video. Both girls have birthday's coming up next month, along with their aunt. Busy March! Claire will turn 6 (what the heck) on March 15 and Fae will have her first birthday already on March 24!

I still have multiple audiobooks going; that's nothing new. I did just finish reading a relatively unknown author's first book. The Secret Journal (God Stones Book 1) by Otto Scheafer. This book caught my eye when I noticed it was revolving around an archeological find. It is split between two locations for a while, though they finally join together, and you find out the connection. It's a great story.. think Indiana Jones style with a Young Adult twist. He has this one as his first and three others, with a fifth one coming out soon.

>11 Silversi: That's a wonderful thing to have on video! It sounds as if you'll have a lively March in celebrating all the birthdays.
