I read this book when I was a child at my grandparents house (it was about 13-15 years ago that I read it, and it looked like quite an old book already when I was reading it). A lot of the details are hazy, but it was quite a distinct book! Short in length, more of a picture book or at least very heavy on the illustrations.
It was about a young boy who made an origami horse, named him, etc. The horse then became a real one (perhaps was blown over the wall by the wind and came back as a real horse? Might be remembering that wrong), and one thing led to another and the boy I believe ended up riding off into war on this horse. I think that the book was by a Chinese author and adapted into English, purely because of the illustrations; from what I remember, they were very classical and reminiscent of Han Gan's paintings, just modernised somewhat.
Thanks for the help in advance!

>2 Aquila: no, sadly not - no snow in the one I remember, and I don't think that Paper Horse was published yet when I was a child! Thank you though
