Still working my way thru Into the Narrowdark by Tad Williams. Taking this one slowly so I can enjoy it longer.

I'm on a pre-spanish South/Central America-like world with Anna Stephens's The Stone Knife

I finished A Gathering of Shadows and about ready to start A Conjuring of Light.

I'm in Chicago with White Night.

I'm about 80% of the way through Abercrombie's Before they are hanged. Good second book. It moves much more quickly than book one.

In Ordinary, Oregon with Rock Paper Scissors.

I'm about 100 pages into A Conjuring of Light. Although the books in this series are long, they are a very quick read. I'm enjoying them, but not nearly as much as The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue which knocked me out.

I'm still exploring the city of Solaara and the Vandevaye-ve with The hands of the emperor. This is such a great read, I will definitely be reading more by the author.

Enjoying the Little Madrigal neighborhood of Brooklyn in Daniel José Older's Ballad & Dagger. Good music and musician POV, which is difficult.

With the Fallow sisters in Liz Williams' Embertide. Just as magical as the previous two.

The Shades of Magic trilogy had a strong finish. Overall, I enjoyed reading it, although there were a few too many fight scenes for my liking. Terrific characters and interesting world building carried the book.

In an alternate New Orleans with Alex Jennings' The ballad of Perilous Graves. Music can be magic, but not all magic is music. Ghosts, sky trolleys, tagging and taggers, kids given agency by their families -- it's all good.

In medieval China with She who became the sun by Shelley Parker-Chan.

At Merybourne Manor in Heartstone.

In Kelewan with Servant of the Empire. I'm about 2/3 of the way in, and this one has seemed a bit more plodding than the first volume, but still enjoying it.

I am in Houston for Ruby Fever.

I've been in Thule, enjoying the coffee at Legends and Lattes. This was such a lovely, feelgood read!

Moving into a new era of the Winter of the World series with The Castle of the Winds.

I've just been in Tornor, having reread Watchtower by Lynn. As good as I remembered. I now have the other two, so I can read the whole set.

I'm back to Scadrial for The Alloy of Law.

>20 Cecrow: I really... can't tell so far? My memory for place names/time references in the first trilogy is not good enough. The only hard time reference is that it takes place "before the building of the Great Causeway", which I don't remember being a plot point in the first books? There are also mentions of Vayde as a great Smith of the past. I know Vayde was talked about a lot in the first books, but can't recall if he was a contemporary or still "a long time ago" in the first books? The Ice is in a period of being pushed back... but I had the sense that the Ice encroaching and retreating was a cycle that had happened many times.

I'm about 25% through it now, and I'm enjoying it. It's got a road-trip/quest-with-interruptions format that's similar to the originals so far, but it's somewhat more... readable? The intentional archaic-ness of the writing style has lightened up quite a bit, and there's more basic camaraderie between the characters to give it more human-interest for me.

Going to finally be getting some answers (I hope) as to what the deal is with the Shepherdess and the spirit situation with Eli Monpress in Spirits' End.
