One purchase so far in October, a book that I read a great review of: Rationality: What It Is, Why It Seems Scarce, Why It Matters by Steven Pinker.

One ARC today: Beasts of a Little Land by Juhea Kim (pub 12/21; historical fiction set in Korea and Manchuria in the early to mid-20th century).

My Vorkoverse books get lent out a lot, so I picked up a second hand copy of Young Miles.
And then noticed a new YA SF title, Free Chocolate.
Using the bookstore as a meet-in-the-middle location is pretty much a guarantee I’ll find something that needs to come home with me.

Yikes. Three more bought already:
* Peril by Bob Woodward and Robert Costa (US current affairs covering the attack on the capitol as Trump's attempt to steal the election)
* _The 1945 Sears Christmas Book_ (a facsimile of the first catalog after WWII)
* Someone to Wed by Mary Balogh (historical romance, book 3 in the Westcott series)

Another meet in the middle stop at the bookstore, but we didn’t stay to look. I later stopped at the ReStore and came home with three.

Welcome to Bordertown
Piercing the Darkness - a fresher copy than the one on my shelf
The Martian - which I have in audio twice.

Oh, and stopped at the library to get technical help adding Libby to an iPad, came away with a free book that I will send to my sister - Crossing to Avalon; because we have shared all the rest of Jean Shinoda Bolen’s books over the years.

7> The Rose Tremain is on one of my TBR mountain ranges in my apartment. I'm not sure whether I own that Jane Smiley or not. I lose track so easily of what I own....

So of course I had to bring more titles home.

One purchase: Ghost Talkers by Mary Robinette Kowal (SF/F set during WWI).

And one ARC: Lockdown on London Lane is contemporary fiction with a pub date of 2/22.

Dollar Tree didn’t have what I was looking for, but I compensated by picking up Learning to See, a fictional biography of Dorothea Lange.

I start my new job on Wednesday, so I'll finally have an income again. To celebrate, I went to one of my favorite local bookstores yesterday and bought Game Wizards by Jon Peterson and The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune. I probably should have waited until after I get my first paycheck, but I can't make myself regret it. I'm really excited to read both of them!

>11 Julie_in_the_Library: Game Wizards sounds interesting. But read The House in the Cerulean Sea first. It's amazingly wonderful.
