Finished the Seaforth World Naval Review 2020; since the world is going naval arms-racing again it seems like I now need an annual.

I'm at Fredholm's Eight Banners and Green Flag, about the military of the Qing empire. It's a bit of a curious beast - it has the style of an academic study, but it's published by a wargaming outfit and if you check the citations they're overwhelmingly to modern secondary literature. Pretty good, though, for my simple needs.

>2 Shrike58: It's been a few years since I have read one of their annuals, is the quality still good?

>4 jztemple: I was actually quite impressed...the editor knows their business.

Knocked off The Seventh West Virginia Infantry, which, while informative, tries to be everything to everyone and I'm not sure really succeeds at anything. As I noted in my review, it reads like the summary of a project to create a genealogical database. I suspect that the target audience is genealogists and in-state undergrads.

Complete a short Red Coats & Grey Jackets: The Battle of Chippawa, 5 July 1814 by Donald E. Graves.

Knocked off Kongo-Class Battleships, which was pretty easy since it's basically a picture book; very nice pictures though. Imagine a typical article from the "Warship" annual with more imagery.
