I haven't read and didn't own any of the longlisted books, until now; 11 of the 13 are currently available in electronic format, all of which I've purchased, and I ordered the two books that are only in print edition, The Fortune Men by Nadifa Mohamed, and An Island by Karen Jennings.

>2 kidzdoc: An Island is available as an e-book on Amazon. I'm about halfway through that one and like it so far (it's really short!)

I own, but haven't read The Promise and Light Perpetual and I think Second Place is on hold at the library, so those are on the list for August.

I enjoyed Klara and the Sun and A Town Called Solace and loved No One is Talking About This.

>3 Yells: It doesn't seem as though the Kindle edition of An Island is available in the US yet, Danielle, unless I'm doing something wrong.

I'll get started on the longlist today, and I should be able to read Second Place by Rachel Cusk, which is only 137 pages in length.

>4 kidzdoc: - D'oh... I buy from Amazon Canada. We are usually the last to get everything so I just assumed that it was available everywhere. Sorry to get your hopes up!

I just got Second Place from the library so I was going to read that this weekend. I'm curious about the length (or lack thereof).

>5 Yells: I was wondering what I was doing wrong until I realized that you live in Canada!

ETA: I ordered An Island from Amazon US via The Book Depository, but it's out of stock, so my order was cancelled. Hopefully I can find it in Amsterdam or Lisbon next month (Delta Air Lines doesn't offer direct flights from Atlanta to Lisbon, so I'll change planes at Schiphol Airport in both directions).
