We have can have three sources for looking up catalog information when we import a list of ISBNs.
Is there some reason why we can't use Librarything as one of those sources?

The received wisdom is that there is too much so-called "ratty data" to prevent LT from being a reliable source of bibliographical data. Too many imports from amazon and its careless second-hand booksellers; too many people using the wrong isbn for their edition and changing only cosmetic info (such as title/author); too many faulty mass imports gone wrong; and so on.
Many members disagree (usually the ones who take their cataloguing seriously) and point to the wealth of information that is not importable from elsewhere (careful cataloguers, so much manually-entered data, the value of aggregation). I myself am in this camp.
However, the Powers That Be have ruled out using LT as a source for itself. And so there's nothing to be done about it.
