This is going to be such a vague description of the plot so I apologize, but I had a wave of nostalgia from watching a youtube video where I remembered this book.

Basically, it's a young teen boy who hates doing chores and homework and instead loves watching tv in the den and playing baseball. He clones himself and convinces his clone to do the homework and chores while he just watches tv. Then, things take a turn for the worse because the clone wants to go outside and play baseball and do things so they start flipping coins? to see who gets to do the chores and homework and who gets to have fun.

Eventually, there are several clones of the boy, and I think they want to kill him or something?

Please if you can help me identify this book, you'd restore my ability to sleep and not dwell on this nostalgia lol. Thank you!

I am almost positive that I have also read this, but don't know what it is... My first thought is that it sounds like a Bruce Coville

>3 juels: no, mine is about a boy who somehow clones himself, no doctors or scientists

Is it William Sleator's The Duplicate?

>6 0Z: this one is the closest, but after reading through the book it's not my book. However, my book does follow the same type of plot and involves a teen boy who clones himself. The main difference is that the first time the clone appears, the main boy makes him do homework while he watches tv. Then the clone wants to watch tv and have fun

Mary C. Ryan's Me Two, maybe? It's mostly lighthearted, but there are some thriller aspects later on.

>8 beyondthefourthwall: no sadly this isn't it either :( in my novel the boy distinctly clones himself and the clone is made to do homework while the boy watches television and plays baseball

Suddenly realized I had another guess, though I read it so long ago I can't remember any of the details: The Trouble with Jake's Double by Dean Marney?

>10 beyondthefourthwall: nope not it either unfortunately :( in my book the boy clones himself, it's not a twin or anything

Understood - both of these are about clones. I'll keep a lookout for additional possibilities.
