cover uploaded upside-down

Hi, sorry if I'm posting in the incorrect group.

I just uploaded a cover that loaded upside-down. The photo, on my computer, is not upside-down. So, I don't know how to flip it.

Should I make it upside-down on my PC, then try again to load it here to see if it turns itself over?

Thanks.

Oh, it's this book:
In the Mood for Peace

It was a photo I took of the cover.

I looked again, and just grabbed one from the book's website instead. So, I think my upside-down cover is gone.

But, is there a way to turn it around if it happens again?
Thanks.

Take the picture again with your phone held the other way. Cameras have a base orientation and add a note about how to rotate the picture. LT's picture software doesn't recognize the note, because it was written before that was the norm. Tim knows this needs updating, but he has a lot of other projects on his list.

I’ve found that if I make the tiniest edit to a photo before uploading, it sets the correct orientation, and it loads on LT correctly.

Thank you all!

Good to know for future reference. I actually moved it from my tablet to my PC, where I did change the orientation (it had been sideways!) before uploading it here, but obviously that didn't do it, either.

ETA: I wasn't sure how to edit it on my tablet, so I guess if I try again, I might just have to take longer to figure it out.

I have a flatbed scanner that I use for scanning all my covers, but some of my books are too large for the scanner, so they get scanned as a left part and a right part and then put together. My script for doing this include a conversion to pnm format, which doesn't have ANY metainformation like orientation, scanner software etc, so whenever I have a problem with image orientation I use pnm format to either fix the problem or at least diagnose it.

(Twenty years ago I had a Kodak digital camera, that exported the pictures one way if you used serial connection and another way if you used usb connection. One of them set the image size as 1 x 1 :-) so bugs / features in imaging software is not a new thing.)

Some image editing software, e.g. GIMP, ask whether you want to fix the orientation upon opening such an image with metadata.

// >7 bnielsen: ah the wonderful serial connection! was it a 9 pin on 15 pin into the camera. All my HO train friends had to learn about new technology as DCC software people stopped writing serial software in the new systems and the dongles for converting serial to USB are extremely hit and miss.

It better not come back as I just tossed all my serial stuff several months ago. . . you know, a bit of COVID boredom and I needed the container for more "modern" stuff. I'm amazed that RCA cable stuff still works! //
