at your fine press books?

I found this article while browsing the web: https://craigmod.com/essays/looking_closely/

At least, if Hiroshige and Hokusai would be considered fine press, this is somewhat on topic.

I can't wait to spend some time reading this article. Thanks for sharing.

In yoga, we call this dharana, or concentration, in particular one-pointed focus, or ekagrata. The yogis would laugh at the industrial worlds productivity through multi-tasking. Knowing through concentration on one thing to the exclusion of all else. Applies to life and to enjoyment of books, it seems.

>2 jveezer: It was a great read and there seem to be other interesting articles by the author at the site, one about books versus other media.

After reading it, don't neglect to go back and follow at least two links: the Lyon 1897 snowball fight (although I found the entire one minute film on Youtube) and the NYT "article" on Hokusai - they did a great job in the presentation in a visual way that I have never seen before.

I picked up a book a few years back called Shank's Mare with Hiroshige's Tokaido illustrations tipped in. Knowing nothing about the text, I bought it instantly for the quality and beauty of the images. I'm going to pull that out too when I sit down to read this article in full. I haven't read it yet as I'm tangled up in some of the other great novels of Japan & China but it's definitely in the queue.
