Hi, Larissa - thanks for taking on the admin role. I expect it won't be too onerous - this is such a civilized group :)

I'm Jane, from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
Favourite tea - Earl Grey, hot. Actually, black tea in general. I also like green, white, oolong, etc. but it has to be mostly actual tea (camillia sinensis). Not fond of most herbal teas, although ginger, lemon, and mint (and various combinations thereof) are okay.
I take my regular tea with milk, no sugar. Herbal teas I drink clear.
Favourite snack with tea - cheese, biscuits, scones, dried fruit, cookies, popcorn, crisps, chocolate, bread-and-butter, whatever. I do have quite a sweet tooth.
Favourite mug - a big one.

Hello, Larissa!

>2 tardis: Are you my long lost twin? :=)

Ellen, from Caribou, ME, USA here.
Favorite tea: All things black, especially, Assam and Earl Grey. Will drink green, white and oolong in moderation. Not a big fan of herbal unless I absolutely have to avoid caffeine for some reason, in which case an herbal is better than a decaf.
I take it with milk.
Favorite snack with tea: Anything.
Favorite mug - I have several I rotate through, but it needs to be sizable. And I have a very large tea cup and saucer combo in a toile patter that I love.

Hi, Larissa!

I'm Lisa, from Berwyn, IL, USA (suburban Chicago).
Favorite tea: I love them all - black, green, white, herbal (though I've had a few herbal teas I won't try again). But Earl Grey is probably my favorite.
I don't add milk or sugar to any tea.
Favorite snack: Scones are great, or cake.
Favorite mug: I have a giant mug, with an astronaut dog on it - that's my favorite!

Alison, from far-northern British Columbia, Canada. tardis is my sister.

favourite tea - black tea, with milk, no sugar. Sometimes Earl Grey, chai, or peppermint.
Green or white tea I drink occasionally, and take clear. I don't care much for most herbals and flavoured teas. My favourite tea ever was a black chinese tea which someone gave to me in a fancy souvenir container, it had the most amazing bouquet. I think the closest I've come to matching it was Twinings Russian Caravan.

favourite snack with tea - gingersnaps.

favourite mug - right now I'm using a large metal thermos mug, which keeps the tea nice and hot. I also have a few large china and pottery mugs that I like.

I mostly lurk on this group. This might actually be my first post, or close to it.

Hi--My name is Jennifer, and I also just became an admin of this group.
I'm from Ohio (USA)
I probably have too many favorite teas to list! I like Hot Cinnamon Spice tea and Stash's Creme Caramel Decaf tea. (Sadly, I am only allowed 2-3 cups of caffeine a day by my cardiologist.)
I love scrapbooking and cardmaking.

I'm RP, from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

I prefer breakfast teas: Ontario Breakfast and Queen Mary are current favourites. I will also happily buy pretty much any black tea from the local British grocery store.
My favourite snack with tea is chocolate digestives. Also partial to a plate of cheese and crackers. And scones of course :D
Today I'll say my favourite mug is the one I got at Whittard in London, which has three rabbits on it and it says "rabbit, rabbit, rabbit".
When I'm not reading or drinking tea, I'm usually listening to music (current enthusiasm: Talking Heads) or playing online trivia.

Hi everyone! I'm Amanda and I live in Memphis.

fav tea: Earl Grey (with bergamot peel, not oil) and a little honey
fav snack: animal crackers or dark chocolate. (there used to be a cookie called petit beurre here but it's hard to come by now locally)
fav mug: it's too hard to choose but I do favor the small one with the dip in the bottom of the handle to rest your mid-finger instead of curving out like most mugs

I drink a lot of tea, but I also do crafts and play outdoors often as well. :D

Thanks to the two Group Admins. My name is John, originally from UK but I left and moved to Africa forty-odd years ago and I now live in Kenya. Like many British (and Irish) people of my generation we grew up drinking tea from an early age, the kettle was on the boil all day, a cup of tea was automatically poured for anybody who came to the house, and coffee (instant, or even ersatz, in those days) was a rather exotic oddity.

My favourite tea is any form of bog standard builder's tea, made from "normal" black tea leaves, hot, strong, milky and sweet, although I've had to give up using sugar regularly in recent years, so sweet tea is now an occasional treat. I also like Earl Grey and Lapsang Souchong. Also Sudanese tea (served hot, black and even sweeter than builder's tea in a small glass, flavoured with spices such as mint, cloves, cardamom, ginger or fresh lemon leaves) and Kenyan chai (tea cooked together with the water and milk, often with sugar, ginger and masala spice included in the brew - not the over-priced imitations you get in trendy coffee shops in the Global North - my favourite is when it is cooked in a Maasai boma with milk fresh from the cow and often with a hint of wood smoke and dried cow dung in the taste).

My favourite mug is a big one. Favourite snack would probably be Hobnobs biscuits, but tea also goes very well with a bacon sarnie. And indeed with anything...

When I was brought up in England herbal teas and tisanes were not considered to be "tea", but I have grown to appreciate rooibos (from the time I lived in South Africa) and karkade (a hibiscus infusion which is very popular in Sudan). But I still don't refer to them as "tea"!

Welcome to the two Group Admins. My name is Birger, I'm from Denmark. My earliest memory about tea is tea bags of the brand Medova = generic ceylon tea dust. Sometimes with sugar. Especially when I had a cold :-)

fav tea: Darjeeling - preferably first flush. But most anything goes. I tend to avoid flavoured teas.
fav mug: For the moment it's a Swedish mug with some sheep on it. (And not made with a lot of care!)

I have trouble throwing tea tins away, so I have hundreds of them. I'll buy tea tins when I come across them (and they contain the original tea), but I'm not really a collector. I prefer Twinings 100 g tins since they stack like Maersk containers. I'll often have like 15-20 different teas and can't remember a time when I've run completely out of tea.

In the early days of the internet, I had a web page on tea. So I can remember a time when event the large companies didn't have a web page and much less a web shop.

Once in a while I drink mate (the Argentine stuff) which is really good for a caffeine rush if you need it.

BTW most Americans I know states that their doctor / cardiologist tells them to avoid caffeine or cut it down to a cup a day or similar. I never hear that from my fellow Danes. (And Danes drink tons of strong coffee every day.)

Thanks for taking on the admin role!

GG from southwest Missouri
Favorite tea(s): single estate Assams and British builders' teas, but I eagerly sample all kinds.
Favorite snack with tea: I tend to match my munchies with whatever I'm drinking, somewhat like a wine and cheese pairing.
Favorite mug: hand-thrown honey-gold and burgundy mug from the Silver Dollar City pottery shop
Favorite favorites: books, tea chat (steepster.com; nice people there), card making, writing curriculum and playing with my "Sunday kids" (fifth and sixth graders) at church.

Teas!

Hi! I'm WeeTurtle and I live in BC, Canada, three different spots at different times. I started with herbal teas as a kid, Not sure how I started on the other stuff, probably because of mom or herbals not being available at any given restaurant we might be at.

I'm a black tea person, to be easy about it. I'm also one for strong teas. I have special places in my heart for Murchie's Queen Victoria tea, a good Assam, and Chai made on a stovetop. Is lovely!
My favourite tea snack is a donut. Biscuits and scones are well and good but after a while I inevitably start missing my starch ring.

I had tea in Denmark once! In Copenhagen at (I think) Cafe Norden. Tea and cake. It was recommended by the hostel clerk.

Thanks Admins!

I'm also from the UK, and even by our standards drink quite a bit of tea. I start the day with something strong, Assam or Kenya BOP with milk. Then during the rest of the day I'll drinka variety of lighter or flavoured teas depending on my mood - oolongs, darjeeling, and passion fruit, some chocolate sometimes. A cup of green tea at work gets a few re-infusions.

Favourite mug is a black pint mug in the style of UK dimpled pub tankard. Or a 1.7lt glass teapot poured into a delicate borosilicate handled glass.

Currently I order most of teas from the Kent and Sussex Tea Company, which has a huge range.

It is! If ever you find yourself in Kenya get in touch and we'll share a cuppa together! You should make sure you visit Kericho in particular, the tea-growing hub of Kenya. And indeed the same invitation to share a cuppa if ever you're in Kenya goes to everybody in this LT Tea group.

Hi 👋 I feel y’all know me from my posts. I’m Ruth, recently moved to Kentucky after retirement, to be near my kids.
I basically run on tea. Gallons of it a day. Plain strong black tea, for the most part, but I experiment once in a while. My grands expect spearmint tea when they visit; leaves collected fresh from my garden in season.

I collect teapots because ... well, I just love their shapes and colors. A one time visit to my dad's cousin’s house proves I come by it honestly. Mugs need to be generously sized, but not heavy, and most important, have a handle large enough to slip most of the hand through.

Offering a mug of tea when waking someone or welcoming them home from a hard day is a good way to express love.

>21 2wonderY: How do you do that?

I came here to make and interesting point about tea.

Reading through your post suggested that it was time to put the kettle on. Done that. Back now but cannot remember what I was going to write about.

Not bothered, got a lovely mug of brew!😊

>21 2wonderY: I remember now .. .. ..

My mum is reading us a story around the fire about a farm that grew sugared almonds. The first page began: "It was a magical land where the kettle had always just boiled."

I loved that first line and we requested the story over and over through the years.

>27 John5918: You will remember this, For the benefit of our US friends, this was very popular and made us laugh in UK many years ago but was in a broad cockney accent so I don't think the track got exported.

"Right," said Fred, "Both of us together
One each end and steady as we go."
Tried to shift it, couldn't even lift it
We was getting nowhere
And so we had a cuppa tea and

"Right," said Fred, "Give a shout for Charlie."
Up comes Charlie from the floor below.
After strainin', heavin' and complainin'
We was getting nowhere
And so we had a cuppa tea.

And Charlie had a think, and he thought we ought to take off all the handles
And the things wot held the candles.
But it did no good, well I never thought it would

"All right," said Fred, "Have to take the feet off
To get them feet off wouldn't take a mo."
Took its feet off, even took the seat off
Should have got us somewhere but no!
So Fred said, "Let's have another cuppa tea."
And we said, "right-o."

"Right," said Fred, "Have to take the door off
Need more space to shift the so-and-so."
Had bad twinges taking off the hinges
And it got us nowhere
And so we had a cuppa tea and

"Right," said Fred, "Have to take the wall down,
That there wall is gonna have to go."
Took the wall down, even with it all down
We was getting nowhere
And so we had a cuppa tea.

And Charlie had a think, and he said, "Look, Fred,
I got a sort of feelin'
If we remove the ceiling
With a rope or two we could drop the blighter through."

"All right," said Fred, climbing up a ladder
With his crowbar gave a mighty blow.
Was he in trouble, half a ton of rubble landed on the top of his dome.
So Charlie and me had another cuppa tea
And then we went home.

(I said to Charlie, "We'll just have to leave it
Standing on the landing, that's all
You see the trouble with Fred is, he's too hasty
You'll never get nowhere if you're too hasty.")

Hi!

I’m Becky, from the Boston (USA) area.
My favorite tea - Golden Monkey, by far! When that runs out, Assam, with a splash of milk and a small bit of honey. Gunpowder green tea in the afternoon to keep me going.
Favorite snack with tea - cookies, preferably chocolate chip; alternatively, any cake at all will do.
Favorite mug - two, actually: a glass Bodum for every day and a heavy McMurdo Coffeehouse mug my son brought me from when he worked in Antarctica.
