Please help me remeber the name of the book I read before

I read a book a few months back and cannot remember its name. Your help will be highly appreciated.
The book is set in the regency era. The book starts with a prologue in which the hero's first wife has gone out riding with her brother. She dies after a fall.
Later, the 1st chapter begins with the heroine in her uncle's garden ( who is her guardian). Her aunt has thrown a ball and the heroine was out in the garden playing with her younger cousins. The hero isn't interested in marrying again but is being persuaded by his best friend ( ex brother in law) to marry for the sake of his little daughter. The hero sees the heroine in the garden and believes she is suitable enough to care for his daughter hence asks for her hand and they get married.
Later as the story unfolds, we get to know that the hero is very distant from his daughter who craves the hero's attention. The heroine tries to bring them together but later learns that the little girl is his step daughter but he loves her like her own. The first marriage had left some scars (hero's unrequited love). The little girl is actually the daughter of the crown prince of that time.
