EP new payment plans

So ... it's been a minute since I've purchased and EP title (or three) :)

But I just did the above ... ordered three titles on Feb 6th. Super excited as always.

However I have a question about the 'pay as you go' process ... cuz I never remember it being like this.

Each title has a 4 monthly payment plan. And I was charged one installment of the monthly payment immediately for each of the three titles. Now only 2 weeks later I just got charged again for each title (and I have yet to even receive any of the books).

I do not ever remember this happening before.

Just wondering if this is the experience others have had.

The last time I bought titles from EP might have been over a year or two ago (I used to buy lots back then) ... in comparison to my many experiences back then ... this just feels strange.

Hope all are doing well!

Normally, for the default mode of installments, EP charges the first payment (plus total tax) up front for each book in the order. However, the charge for each book doesn't actually post on one's credit card fully until it ships (there's a pre-charge within a day or so of the order, though). Other than the addition of tax a couple of years ago, I don't think anything has really changed - at least not that I've noticed.

Their usual plan, unless they’ve changed it very recently, is to charge the first installment when the books are shipped, the second a month later, and the third a month after that - a total of three payments. But I found too often that they made mistakes, so now I charge everything up front on a credit card.

I thought it was just weird that I got notifications of payment from my credit card when i ordered and then again two weeks later. Either way moving up the payment by two weeks ... it is what it is ... it has to be paid off anyway. I think I like >3 jroger1: way of doing things ... might opt for the up front payment in the future. Just simpler and cleaner.

My experience has been that EP doesn’t always charge the same way. I’ve had books where they charge me once a month until it’s paid in full, other books where they have skipped a month and then the next month they have charged me double (previous month plus current due) or have just moved over payments by one month and kept charging me normally thereafter. I also had to call EP once to tell them to charge me for Story of the Wild West after 3 months passed by and they had not charged me anything, at that time I was asked if I could pay all 3 installments that were “due.”

Yeah, if the charges aren't appearing as agreed upon, I'm sure they'd be more than happy to adjust things however necessary. I've never had the kind of trouble >5 judgethatcher: described but I'm not surprised.

I realize now why this all threw me off a bit ... the last time I purchased from EP they offered the option to upgrade to 3 day shipping (which it seems they no longer offer).

When I used to do this ... my initial charge would show up within a day or two of me ordering ... not a week or two later when it was shipped in this 'longer shipping' schedule.

It's a shame they no longer offer the upgraded shipping.
