Looking for recommendations as I decide whether to place an order for Punktown once it's available. I don't know anything about the books other than what I've read in Jerad's newsletters and on the author's Wikipedia entry. A combination of sci-fi, fantasy, horror, and detective fiction sounds like the kind of thing I would generally like, but I'm wondering if anyone has anything more specific to say about the literary quality of these books and/or their availability in other editions. Thoughts?

I think the majority of the Punktown stories are available in softcover and ebook. I’m really looking forward to this set. Maybe try an ebook for one to see if you like the stories/writing?

For any others thinking about this set; it looks like there will be an optional slipcase as well.

>3 HowardEriksonWolfe: Nice. I'm passing on Punktown but I hope Jerad keeps up with producing slipcases for these smaller series- Nifft the Lean, Blish's After Such Knowledge, the Philip K. Dick books...

Agreed. I always prefer to have a slipcase than not.

>4 SolerSystem: unfortunately, there was no slipcase for the recent Blish title A Case of Conscience.
I'm also going to pass on Punktown. Too many other sure bets (for me) coming out soon from Centipede and other publishers. Besides, I've read up on Punktown based on effusive praise from readers and the fact that the overall milieu seems really interesting, but I think Punktown is very likely too bleak and brutal for my tastes.

Since the Blish titles are being released individually, a slipcase could come later as was done with the Leiber series. I’m guessing that the reason the Punktown case is being offered up front is because all the volumes are being released as a set at once.

>7 HowardEriksonWolfe: Oh, that's cool about a slipcase potentially being offered later for the Blish set. I'm newly back into collecting after a long hiatus and have not been a Centipede customer for very long.

Just to clarify, I’m not saying there WILL be a slipcase for the Blish books, only that it’s still a possibility. To my knowledge, Jerad has not discussed doing one thus far.
