In my stats/Memes - Author Gender are a lot of authors in the column Not set.
The gender in CK is filled (in .com and .de):
.com: Detlev P. Adler - male
.de: Cihan Acar - männlich
Could it be related to the fact that the inputs are now possible as free text?

When the change was made, not all the old ones made it over. If you open and resave they will work.

Today I tested again:
Changes in librarything.de have no effects, in librarything.com it is partly working.
This is what I did (gender was already set in librarything.de: "männlich" - gender in stats was "Not set"):
librarything.de: I opened and resaved it - this had no effects
librarything.de: I changed the entry into "male" - this had no effects
librarything.de: I changed the entry back into "männlich" - as it is suggested for librarything.de
I switched to librarything.com
librarything.com: I opened and resaved it (the entry was "männlich") - gender in stats changed to "Other / Contested / Unknown"
librarything.com: I changed the entry into "male" - That finally worked

>4 SirThomas: Can you give me the authors you're testing this with so I can take a closer look?

Any chance this is related to the general issue with editing CK in different languages/across different language versions of the site?
Discussed, i.e. here:

>5 kristilabrie: I am happy to do that (these are new entries from me):
librarything.de "männlich" (Not set): Paul Aretz
librarything.com "männlich" (Other / Contested / Unknown): Karsten Dusse
librarything.com "male" (this works): Axel Beyer

>10 bonne1978: I've now set this one in .com, but we should not have to do this. The genders set in the other language sites ought to work.
I've done several others in past day or two, that looked fine on the author page, but only worked when I had resaved them.
I have also just resaved the top 5 'not set' authors for >10 bonne1978:. All of them showed male. All of them moved to the male column after being resaved. There are 285 still there to experiment on.

Thanks for the reminder on this. I thoroughly tested our stats in early November and verified the CK Gender bug for non-.com sites. I'll pass this to timspalding to take a look when he can.

I think that I found the problem with this because for gender it was only grabbing the English, regardless of which language you have set or are viewing from, but I can't really find any examples to test, so if someone can verify this and reopen if there is still a problem, that would be helpful.

Verified that on https://www.librarything.com/stats/bonne1978/gender Kristina Lund shows gender as not set.
