This morning I stumbled into the following old post about my early experiences with CS Lewis. I enjoyed the recollection and hope other members will enjoy recalling their first experience with Lewis. I hope some will share with us here.
I distinctly remember a Small Church Community meeting in 2005 when a friend brought a small book which he said he absolutely must read to us. Only at the end did he tell us it was Lewis' Screwtape Letters. We were fascinated, and spent much of the meeting discussing Lewis and his writing. Soon afterward, my friend lent me Screwtape, and shortly later he lent me Mere Christianity. Within a month my wife bought Lewis' The Great Divorce and soon afterward she came home with a collection of six Lewis books that had been given to my stepdaughter. Today I have about 20.
It makes me wonder, did I find Lewis, or did he find me?
