LibraryThing allows owners of venues (e.g. bookstores) to "claim" their LT venue page so that they can keep the information updated. That's great!
However, now that LT is 15 years old some of the claimers have not visited the site in a decade or more, and their venues have changed or closed, and other users cannot make those changes to the venue because the venue is "claimed".
I've noticed a few places that have changed or closed, especially during the pandemic, that I would like to make changes to but can't. I've been leaving comments on the venue page, for now.
https://www.librarything.com/venue/6031/Fenwick-Street-Used-Books-Music%E2%80%8E - new owner, new hours, moved location
https://www.librarything.com/venue/23331/Book-Bank - permanently closed
I could have entered this as an RSI I suppose, but I'm not really sure what a solution would be. Anyone else have thoughts? (Or just want to lament some bookstores that closed?)

I think the answer must be to tell staff, who will confirm it's closed and open it up for edits. We've done that to one or two already.

>1 norabelle414: Oh, I have to remember to pester the new owners at Fenwick Street. They're my hometown used bookstore.

>3 gilroy: It's a really cute shop! I went to their website half-expecting them to have closed during the pandemic and was so happy to see they've just moved.

>4 norabelle414: The new owners are very friendly and helpful. And the new space is more open and a touch larger. I admit to missing their Science Fiction/Fantasy "Dungeon" from the old place, but the new one is better overall.
But I keep going in with very little time to spare so don't get a chance to chat.

>1 norabelle414: There is a work-around using a little URL manipulation to be able to edit the venue. I'll PM you.
