She passed away Saturday from a long term illness. Cant believe there will not be another read by her. Amazing writer, and historian who made medival europe come alive. I plan to read her final book Land Beyond the Seain her honor. Wonder if there are other fans of her here

I've sadly never read any of her works. Where would be a good place to start?

I loved her Welsh Trilogy and was thrilled to be able to visit many of the sites.

>1 cindydavid4: Ugh :(
>3 tealadytoo: IMO: The Sunne in Splendour or Here Be Dragons -- I prefer the first but it is mostly because I prefer that historical period compared to the other... :) Both are worth reading...

Oh, that’s so sad! She is the author that got me hooked on good historical fiction. I’ve read all of her historical fiction books and two of her mysteries. The Sunne in Splendor was the first I read and I loved it. My next favorite is the Welsh series that starts with Here Be Dragons.
I didn’t realize she was ill. I read her latest when it came out and was hoping there would be a continuation of that story.

>9 princessgarnet: Thanks! Based on all your comments, I think I'll have to read The Sunne in Splendor.

>3 tealadytoo: Id start with the Welsh Trilogy; I find that its a good starting place for learning names of characters as you go through the rest of her books, and its just such a great story - bastard daughter of an evil king (John) is given in marriag to the prince of wales, his enemy. Its a love story for the ages, but the historical prescence is phenominal.
Im doing a challage with a buddy of mine, starting with When Christ and His Saints Slept, which is the book that takes place the earliest and going from there, including the mysteries, If any one is interested,..

>1 cindydavid4: I read almost everything she wrote. Gave all the books to a neighbor who is now into her. Very sad.
