Bug collector posts appearing in groups and posts (including broken sources)

Before today I was a member of Bug Collectors. I had the Bug Tracking link in my Talk sidebar, but posts did not appear in my Groups and Posts page. Now, I am not sure if I had joined + ignored to get this to be this way, I just enjoyed it.

This morning (21-01-2021) things got strange. I didn't have the Bug Tracking link in the talk sidebar anymore, and when I visited the group I wasn't a member (anymore, I think). When I joined again I got the link back, but now all bug tracking posts appear in groups and posts. This even includes the broken sources posts, which I don't see on the bug tracking page.

My expected behaviour:
- Be a member of Bug Collectors
- See Bug Tracking link in Talk left sidebar under LibraryThing
- Do not see Bug Collectors posts in Groups and Posts, unless I have starred or posted in said post.
- Never see Add Books - Broken Sources posts unless clicking the bug category

My actual behaviour:
- Not a member of Bug Collectors (without consciously leaving the group) -> rejoined
- Posts from Bug Collectors appear in Groups and Posts, regardless of whether I posted/starred them or not
- Posts from Add Books - Broken Sources appear in Groups and Posts (but not on the Bug Tracking page unless the category is selected).

My system:
MacOS 10.14 or 11.1 (tried on two Macs), using Brave (Version 1.18.78 Chromium: 87.0.4280.141 (Official Build) (x86_64)) and Safari 14.

This feels like a duplicate of this bug:

>2 gilroy: Maybe same code change as origin, but it is different. Because the topics aren't old, it is just showing Bug Collector posts as if Bug Collectors is a normal group, which it never used to do before. Also, I don't see this on the group pages, but on the generic talk page Groups and Posts

>1 divinenanny: My experience has always been that, as a member of Bug Collectors group, I *do* see Bug Collectors topics in "Groups and Posts". Are you sure you didn't leave the Bug Collectors group at some point?

it is just showing Bug Collector posts as if Bug Collectors is a normal group, which it never used to do before.

It always has for me! Is it possible you had the group on Ignore?

I might have had the combination of Joined + Ignored, I can't check. I tried doing this again, but then I am kicked out of the group...

>6 divinenanny: I think the recent changes to groups have made "ignoring" and "joining" mutually exclusive

No, they were before. I would like it if watched, joined and ignored were separate, but they are and were stored in the same field that can logically only exist once for a member. I hadn't thought about wanting to ignore and join, but I would like it if members could join but then de-watch. Alas, it is not possible without some major re-engineering.

But what combination of settings did I have before that made it so I was a member but didn't get the posts in my Groups and Posts page? (Just curious)

I really don't know. Starring and posting would work, though.

Marking this one as deferred.

The expected behavior in #1 is not something the current system can accomplish. If you are a member of a group its posts will appear in your Groups and Posts. While there is a case for Bug Collectors being outside that system, I think it would be confusing for many members if "Your Groups" did not include all your groups.

While I understand the case (to join bug collectors but also to ignore it), it's an edge case and would require significant reengineering.
