All of Talk Within Each Group

I'm no longer seeing only the group's topics when I'm on a group page. All of Talk is shown. The filters apply for all of Talk, not only for the group.

This is not a problem only occurring in one group.

Actually, I had made assumptions that oversimplified the problem. I'm not sure what is happening. Group topics are messed up; that's the only part that is definitely true.

Not for me, I've opened 4 and all show just group topics

Hm. What group are you looking at?

>4 conceptDawg: Several: here in Bug Collectors; Read It, Track It; 75 Books Challenge in 2021; and Talk About LibraryThing.

But now it's already resolved. I had switched to Desktop View then Mobile View (on my mobile device). Everything went back to how it's expected to be. I don't know if that was a coincidence or what happened, but for now, it looks fixed.

Hm. Ok. Keep an eye on it and let us know if you see it again. The desktop/mobile view will not factor into it. But possibly your sort or sort order? Interesting bug, nonetheless.

I don't know if this is connected, but I noticed something similar just now. I resolved it by clicking on the Last Message header, which re-sorted the messages in Groups and Posts so that the new ones — from all the groups I belong to/post in — were again at the top.

The weird part is that usually when this happens it's because I've accidentally clicked on the New/Unread header, but that wasn't the case here. It was almost as if it had removed all sort options rather than choosing one or the other. None of the columns were bolded to show which sort was being used.

I should add that this was on my iPad. My desktop seems to have maintained its usual Last Message sort.

>7 rosalita: seconding this. It's happened to me twice today. I go to Your Groups and Posts and see a bunch of really old threads (like 2019 old) and have to click on the Last Message header to see the latest.

I'm also on an iPad, using Chrome.

It just happened to me when I came on this evening.
I am on a laptop running chrome and I was already signed in. I've changed it back but will keep an eye out for if it reverts again. I didn't click anything, that I'm aware of, to make this happen.

I spoke too soon. It happened randomly to me too when going from talk to bug tracking. Opening groups from groups page again worked normally

This message is to add that, as usual, I'm on my phone. Android OS. Chrome-based browser.

It just happened to me again. Where earlier today I had been away from LT for a while and returned to a list of old threads, this time I was in the middle of reading threads. My normal "flow" from My Groups and Posts is to click on a thread, read it, and then click My Groups and Posts again. I did this successfully several times, and then out of nowhere was returned to a screenful of old threads.

Incidentally, even after sorting on Last Message to see the latest messages, this thread wasn't in the list even though I had posted here earlier. I see a similar issue was reported in another thread, here.

It just happened to me. Updated, stripped-down Vivaldi on Windows 10. I came back to my Talk window after not touching it all day, reloaded, and on reload it was sorted by group instead of date.

Very annoying. It goes back to something presenting me with old threads that I've read ages ago. I then press New/Total and after a while things look normal again, i.e. the thread with the largest number of unread messages first. I click one to read it but after reading it and pressing Back, I again get the old threads that I've read ages ago.
Having to click on "New/Total" every time and wait for it to sort again is painful. Please fix!

Happened again, this time in mobile on android. I don't know what the sort is but it's not most recent post, group, thread title or #unread. Also I dont know how to change the sort in mobile...

happening to me now. Laptop with firefox 84.0.2.
In Talk: "Your posts" shows random stuff from 2017, 2019 etc and nothing recent; "Started by you" doesn't show a thread i just started; "Groups and posts" shows threads from 2008; "starred" shows threads from 2009. "Your groups" looks ok as far as i can tell.

ok just a reset sort i guess. If i click on "last message" header, the sort corrects. Fortunately easy to do on laptop.

This is a tricky little bug. We're looking, thanks all!

If you figure out what it's sorted by when it's not sorted by any of the columns, please share, I'm desperately curious now!

I am finding that if I set a page to "Last Messages" and then open a different Talk page, the setting "carries over" to the new Talk page, where I had originally set the default to "New/Total".

This is very annoying. It used to be that whatever option you set on one page, it stayed that way. I often flip between a Group Talk page, where I set the default to "Last Message" and the main "Talk" pages (like "Topics you've Starred") where I set the default to "New/Total". So the changing back & forth is getting irksome.

The only page that doesn't seem affected is the Home page, in which Talk has stayed the way I have originally set it, and doesn't change when I am coming from a differently set page.

I am working on my desktop.

Sort is now separated between three places: Home, Talk and Groups. We debated whether each group should have its own sort, and decided against it.

I'm interested to see other problems, but, so far, we can't find any.

How about the increasing uneven distribution of wealth in the world? Just a suggestion.
