Group admins can now "pin" a topic to the top of the Group forum.
Here's what it looks like:
Here's how you do it:
Details:
1. There is currently no limit. I think we can avoid over-pinning by, well, whining if someone does it. I doubt they will.
2. I know that pinned posts should NOT appear at the top when you look at Talk generally—but only in groups. But I'm thinking maybe we should mark pinned posts with the thumbtack, even if Talk. What do you think?

Yes, please. It will help finding them

My suggestion for having a category of Pinned Threads seems to have been shot down; but it could be useful like starred topics or favorited messages. I get that it might be more complex since starred and favorited are something each user does.

I agree that it would be useful for someone who mainly uses the Talk tab to be able to quickly see the pinned messages in their groups rather than forcing them to go to the group page. Especially since the direct link to the group page was removed from the thread list in the UI update.

>3 lesmel: I just disagreed, personally, but timspalding has the final say. :) Glad you're sharing your vote here.
What if we were able to sort by Pinned? My only concern is adding more links to the left-hand menu, and confusing new members with complexity, but it's not a hill I will die on.

I'm not against your idea, but only if we can put some of the left-hand stuff under a "more" category. Because it's a goddamn astronaut's panel now.
I'll talk to conceptdawg about it.
In the meantime, I'm going to make sure that pinned topics are marked as such on the main Talk page.

I like the idea of marking pins in Talk. It'll really help for groups like Combiners! to see the important continued threads labelled.

I'm the admin of The Weird Tradition, but I'm not seeing how to do this. I only seem to have the star next to any given post on the list but not the three buttons Tim shows up in >1 timspalding:

Cancel that. I logged out and back in. Now I see the buttons on the right. Either that helped or a missed it the first time. All good. I like this!

They should be over at the top right-hand side of the group page, or any thread in the group. "Pin This Topic" is below "Star This Topic" and "Ignore This Topic".

I found the pin on a topic, but it doesn't show up.
ETA Took time, but it now works.
