Looking for a suspense book I read around 2017.
A young woman goes on holiday somewhere warm, I think by bus. Meets an older man. Has a brief relationship. He tells her he is dying.
This is not at all a romance.
Backstory, she is supervised by a social worker (who is a bit of a mess herself) because she was involved in some violent episode, perhaps a stabbing, perhaps unreliable narrator memory.
She rents a room from a kind land lady. There are other people renting other rooms.
She gets a letter that the man has died and she is invited to the funeral at a big country house. There is some business involved, like a vineyard or something.
She meets the son standing at the edge of the funeral. He shows her where he can see some wild animal like a fox or something.
And then everything goes sideways.
Anybody know this book?
