I have 2 squares left in my plan to only use female authors to fill my card. The outstanding items are an LT author and the Read a CAT square. I've read plenty of CATs, but I like the conceit of making that my last square. I know what I'll read for both of them, just need to actually do it now...

>2 Helenliz: I love the idea of doing an all-female-authors card!

I am part way through The Worst Thing, which will be square number 24. Still trying to figure out how weird is weird enough for number 25.

>4 NinieB: - Maybe look at the wiki and see if anything someone else has read seems weird to you.

I'm still waiting for my copy of Il gattopardo. The mail is excruciatingly slow, sometimes.

Letters from Skye by Jessica Brockmole 3.5★
I finished this one for the epistolary square. It's a sweet love story told in letters from an American fan of poetry to the author in Skye. It begins during the Great War and continues during WWII.

I have finished my card!
The Worst Thing (for library or thing in title) was all right. One of the key characters had a back story that didn't really add up with the character we see in the present.
The Crimson Madness of Little Doom finally jumped out at me from my shelves as weird enough. I can't tell you what it means, because it's a major spoiler, except to say that Little Doom is a village in Cornwall.

I ran out of steam on my second card about halfway through but today my library hold on All the Devils Are Here came in so I can at least get one more square finished before the month's end (published in 2020).

I read A Natural History of Dragons for my LT author square.
That just leaves me with "Read a CAT" which I have started.

The last square has been filled! I read Menace at the Christmas Market by Sara Rosett for the self-published square.

I have finally filled my card with a book published in the year of my birth: Il gattopardo. And I can only say I am sorry I didn't read this sooner, it was wonderful.
Congrats to Ninie and Vivienne!

Sadly, this is the first year I won't finish. I have 4 left, and I don't think I'll get any of them this month.
I think I was doing too many challenges (along with trying to fit in Netgalley and Early Reviewers books) to be able to specifically pick something and focus on finishing this.

I've finished my card of all female authors. The last one was the "Read a CAT" square, just because I like the conciet of leaving it to last. ANd I managed to pick a book that fitted all 3 CATs. I read The Year 1000, which features a number (RandomCAT), is about all corners of the globe (GeoCAT) and covered travel by land and sea (Non-fiction CAT).
So I'm taking that as a win. *does a happy dance*

I didn't think I'd get anymore, but I have one more. Leaving 3 unfinished squares. I am hoping to finish one more book, but I don't think it will fit in any of my remaining squares.

A village of only 9 people (all the others have already left, with the rest likely to leave soon, as well) is in the shadow of a mountain. A mountain that holds bad memories for everyone, though none of them remember those memories. Nor do they remember any memories of before the mountain. Dan vaguely remembers, though, that he has a brother. A brother who’s still in the mountain. Dan won’t leave until his brother comes out.
I did get a peek at a review ahead of time that indicated something about religion in this book. Lucky for me, it wasn’t super obvious or hit-you-over-the-head with it. I mostly enjoyed the story, but the end was a bit... I don’t want to say too much, but I could have done with a bit of a different ending.I would have preferred not quite such a happy ending, but I guess with it being somewhat religious in nature, that’s how it ended. It was just a bit too happy/sweet for me.

I usually don't report on my reading for my 2nd, all female authors, BingoDOG card. I just finished reading Citizen reporters: S.S. McClure, Ida Tarbell, and the magazine which rewrote America by Stephanie Gorton for the journalism square. When I got into this book, I really enjoyed it. However, I struggled to start it since this month I felt more like reading light fiction (mysteries) to end the stressful year.
