Will there be a holiday card exchange this year?

Nov 23, 2020, 4:40pm

I've been looking for mention of it but haven't seen anything. Really enjoyed participating the last few years.

Nov 23, 2020, 4:52pm

There will be - we typically wait to launch it until after we've got SantaThing signups closed, just because we have too many moving pieces to deal with otherwise.

So stay tuned next week!

Editado: Nov 23, 2020, 5:28pm

>2 ablachly: And as had been mentioned multiple times (pretty much every year we had had the card exchange) - while this is understood, this also makes it almost impractical to do any international exchanges. And this will be especially true this year when going to the post office in most places is not trivial... But it is LT's program - who cares what the people that want to participate think :)

Editado: Nov 23, 2020, 7:04pm

The birthday card my sister sent me took almost a month to get here. It's not just harder to mail things, the postal systems are not functioning properly. Things would need to be mailed earlier than usual.

Nov 24, 2020, 8:47am

>3 AnnieMod: and >4 MarthaJeanne: SantaThing is, and always will be, the "main event", though we certainly wish we could accomplish both at the same time and make the card deliveries happen as soon as possible.

On a personal note, I certainly don't mind getting cards after Christmas: it's a nice way to extend the holiday cheer. I'm sure this year there'll be further delays with COVID, too. Thanks for your patience.

Nov 24, 2020, 10:34am

I just won't participate until some year I see a chance that the cards would arrive in a timely manner.

Nov 24, 2020, 1:09pm

>6 MarthaJeanne: This. I participated the first(?) time and got christmas cards in february. 🤷‍♀️

Maybe the cardThing could be _before_ SantaThing?

Nov 24, 2020, 3:33pm

>7 Ennas: Me, too. It just didn't feel right.

Nov 24, 2020, 3:39pm

I didn't participate in the LT exchange. But confirming that cards I sent abroad early in December last year arrived nearer to Valentine's day.

Nov 24, 2020, 4:49pm

Maybe we should just think of the cards as arriving very very early for Xmas 2021? (I think it is fun sending and receiving the cards. And maybe I'll drop some of you a card if I can find the address from previous instalments of the cardThing. Just for the heck of it :-)

Nov 24, 2020, 5:41pm

>10 bnielsen: I'm in. send me your address in a private msg if you want to do it and I'll send you mine. You'll get a Charlie Russell card from me!

Nov 24, 2020, 5:56pm

I don't mind receiving cards after Christmas. In past years, I have received overseas cards both before Christmas and after. It's always lovely to get something in the mail that's just fun (and often clever and/or beautiful).

Nov 24, 2020, 7:05pm

Maybe a complete shift in "branding" and time of year is in order— anyone up for a nice summer solstice* card exchange? The and of the year is already so busy for so many people, not just LT staff, that it might even draw more participants.

*Or any other festive occasion.

Nov 24, 2020, 7:05pm

>11 ulmannc:. That's a deal. (Hmm, I hope I'm not being railroaded :-)

Nov 24, 2020, 9:18pm

>13 rosalita: I am up for a card exchange at any time! Also do not mind getting cards late as this just extends the season in my mind.

Nov 24, 2020, 11:15pm

I joined in for the first time last year. Most cards came before Christmas, but not all. I was really thrilled when the last showed up, because I had given up expecting it. All were enjoyed, no matter when they showed up.

Nov 25, 2020, 5:20am

I'm in this year.

Last year was a slow go around here since Canada Post was on strike at the time. It's just the way things go some times. I don't really care about how fast I might get something, but I like to get them. I was a little disappointed last year since I send out I think 5 cards and got maybe 2 returned? Previous year was I think 4 and 3.

Nov 25, 2020, 10:10am

>13 rosalita:

It's a holiday card exchange. "Holiday" is generally understood pretty inclusively.

Nov 25, 2020, 1:31pm

It's fine. It's not a complaint. It's just that postal services tend to be slower this time of year. And this year probably more so than other years.

Ultimately it's about showing some love to others, and that never goes out of season.

Nov 25, 2020, 2:55pm

>18 timspalding: "Holiday" is generally understood pretty inclusively.

I'm not sure many people understand "holiday" to mean a celebration in which the items being exchanged in observation aren't received until months after the ostensible holiday being celebrated, which is what is currently happening with the "holiday card exchange", so I'm not sure you're hitting your intended mark anyway.

My point was that it would not have to be a *holiday* card exchange in the sense that only recognizes a certain specific holiday (or maybe two specific holidays if we're being particularly inclusive). A card exchange at another time of year could be a way to engage users with each other when things aren't as hectic for the staff to do the organizing. But if that's not what you or the site is interested in, then that's obviously your call. I was just making a suggestion.

Nov 25, 2020, 3:33pm

I love the cards whenever they come.

Nov 25, 2020, 4:43pm

>20 rosalita: I'm not sure many people understand "holiday" to mean a celebration in which the items being exchanged in observation aren't received until months after the ostensible holiday being celebrated, which is what is currently happening with the "holiday card exchange", so I'm not sure you're hitting your intended mark anyway.

If this is a matter of months, when do you propose the Holiday Card Exchange begin?

Right now people can indicate they are willing to send cards internationally. We can also add a setting for members to indicate they do not want cards sent from other countries.

Nov 25, 2020, 8:05pm

I don't care when my cards arrive. Receiving cards on time, in December, is great, but getting a festive card with a friendly note in the middle of a cold and wet January or February is super day brightening!

I usually sign up for international addresses but won't this year since it would mean going into the post office.

I'm looking forward to the exchange, thanks for doing this, LT.

Nov 26, 2020, 1:26am

I'm fine for international and overseas. A gram scale can get the weight and the post office website will have the rates. My post office is close though, anyway, and little. Easy to keep clean and there's only one person there. We know each other on sight. ;)

Nov 26, 2020, 2:29am

Getting a late card in the doldrums of January is actually quite lovely, to me. Look! Real mail! Joy!

Editado: Nov 26, 2020, 3:30pm

For people in the US, there are some lovely International First-Class stamps that you can order online, https://store.usps.com/store/results/stamps/_/N-9y93lv/Ntt-international . Each one is enough postage for sending a typical greeting card weighing up to 1 ounce to any allowable country, no need to go to the post office. :) (List of currently-unmailable countries: https://about.usps.com/newsroom/service-alerts/international/welcome.htm )

Nov 27, 2020, 12:07am

>26 Opteryx:

I still cannot mail the postcard via the outbound box in my complex -- they have a special notice on it for that. So it still means going to a post office.

Editado: Nov 27, 2020, 12:26am

>27 AnnieMod: Oh, that's odd. Well, hopefully it will help some other people. :) Usually envelopes (up to 10 ounces and only containing documents/letters/cards) with correct postage can be sent internationally by putting it in a normal mailbox anywhere in the US. If you have blue curbside drop boxes in your area, those should work too.

Nov 30, 2020, 1:51am

I've postponed SantaThing close to 6pm. I will try to kick-start holiday cards before that.

Nov 30, 2020, 11:01am

Excellent! I'm planning to start printing cards today!

Dic 2, 2020, 2:16pm

>29 timspalding: Any news on the card exchange? Looking forward to posting a few :)

Dic 2, 2020, 7:02pm

Card Exchange is open. I'll make a bigger announcement after dinner.

Dic 2, 2020, 7:35pm

Dic 2, 2020, 9:54pm

I love the card exchange! ❤️

Dic 2, 2020, 11:01pm

Dic 3, 2020, 2:53am

This is much too late for international participation.

Dic 3, 2020, 3:12am

>36 MarthaJeanne: You'd be surprised how fast some mail can move. I think I got cards from Europe before the USA last year, and I'm in Canada (though it could also have to do with the timeliness of the person sending them.)

Dic 3, 2020, 3:29am

>38 MarthaJeanne: Yes, they can move fast. My mother mailed hers two weeks later, and it arrived the same day. (>4 MarthaJeanne:). But you don't want to depend on being the lucky one whose card goes through fast.

https://www.usps.com/holiday/holiday-shipping-dates.htm Suggests mailing cards by December 7 for many parts of the world, and November 30 for others.

Dic 3, 2020, 7:43am

Always fun! We love having these cards dropping in and brightening the dark of December and January! Thanks for organizing this again! :)

Dic 3, 2020, 2:19pm

Personally I love getting 'holiday' cards any time of year, but that may in part be because I choose to display my cards in my home year-round (most of the holiday cards I've gotten from LTers over the years are still hung on the back of the front door!). Just makes it more fun/enjoyable to be able to enjoy the cards for an extended period, instead of just receiving them and then forgetting about them. Just my experience, of course.

I signed up just in my country, but may change that to international if I'm able to order those international stamps, thanks for mentioning that >26 Opteryx: !

Dic 4, 2020, 12:45pm

Whoever sent me the Krampus card a few years ago, please know I still use it as a favorite bookmark. 😜

Dic 5, 2020, 11:03pm

I just found some writing group material I got in a card last year. I think I'll dig up my cards from previous years as well, sounds fun! We need some more festive decorations around here.

Dic 7, 2020, 6:02pm

Okay, card exchanges are LIVE.

See https://www.librarything.com/cardexchange.php for yours!

I'll send out a profile comment later tonight.

Editado: Dic 7, 2020, 6:41pm

I misread, never mind.

Dic 7, 2020, 11:59pm

Excellent - my cards are written and will be in the mail Tuesday morning.

For the second year in a row Tim & co. have made the job slightly easier (if less interesting) by putting my sister on my list. She gets a card anyway so if there are "orphans" who need cards, let me know.

Dic 8, 2020, 12:00am

>45 tardis:

Really? Sorry. The system is supposed to prevent you from sending to people you already sent to.

Dic 8, 2020, 1:08am

>46 timspalding:
Really? Is that new? How does that work? I've done the LT card exchange for multiple years (don't remember exactly but this is at *least* my third) and last year I had multiple people in my list that I'd sent to the year before. And looking at my list this year I recognize two of them as people I've previously sent to.

Dic 8, 2020, 1:13am

>46 timspalding: I have two names I know I've sent to before.

Dic 8, 2020, 1:15am

There's a person on my list now 3 years in a row.

Dic 8, 2020, 1:24am

Yep - I have at least one that I am pretty sure had been there for at least 3 years (2 for sure). :)

Editado: Dic 8, 2020, 1:44am

I'm not sure if I've had repeats but I think I've had accidental straight exchanges, sending to people I end up getting cards from. I've always suspected it might have something to do with the amount of people willing to send internationally from North America.

Haven't looked at my sendees yet.

EDIT: Looking now and I certainly see some familiar names but I couldn't say from where, if they were santees, santers, people I've send to, or gotten cards from, or just people I've chatted with.

Dic 8, 2020, 3:24am

I always have at least 2 people from past years. I had 1 name 3 years in a row until I moved and last year I wondered if she missed getting a card from me.

Dic 8, 2020, 5:15am

I've had what looks like the same name from last year. Is it a glitch or is it a coincidence. Haven't had an email yet to confirm x

Dic 8, 2020, 9:17am

Sorry. I clearly am going to need to up the algorithm's anti-same part. But I'm afraid I can't make any changes at this point without upsetting the whole system.

Dic 8, 2020, 12:07pm

My cards are out in the mailbox waiting for the mailman to pick them up. We'll see how well USPS and the Canadian postal service are working this year. I hope the cards I have sent give the recipients a little bit of joy in this strange time we are living in.

Dic 8, 2020, 12:10pm

Oh man I missed it! :( I’ll have to try to sign up next year.

Dic 8, 2020, 12:26pm

>46 timspalding: Aside from NorthernStar, there is at least one other that I've sent to before. It's not a huge deal, but I'm sure my sister would rather get her cards from people other than me :)

Dic 8, 2020, 12:44pm

>54 timspalding: I've been sending and receiving cards from one or two of the same people for a couple of years now. I don't mind. I actually kind of like it. It adds to the charm of this!

Thanks for it.

Dic 8, 2020, 1:38pm

I'm having a hard time deciding which cards will go to which people, lol! This is honestly one of my favorite things about the holidays, not sending cards in general but specifically the LT card-sending, it's so much fun!

Dic 8, 2020, 2:45pm

>59 Heather19: That is why it took me nearly 2 hours to get 6 cards addressed and stamped.

Dic 8, 2020, 3:35pm

>52 ILuvBookplates: I believe that was me, and yes I did. I hope the move went smoothly!

Editado: Dic 8, 2020, 7:33pm

And they’re off. 🐎

Dic 8, 2020, 8:03pm

>61 literatefool: Yes. It was you. The move was crazy. Do you still live at the same address I have from 2018? I'll send you a card.

Dic 8, 2020, 9:50pm

>41 varielle: 👹 That was likely me. I have my Krampus cards right here next to me, ready to go again. I only send them out to LibraryThing members 😄 Glad you appreciated it. I keep all my cards every year, and look through them often.

Dic 8, 2020, 10:21pm

This is my 3rd year participating and I've enjoyed every minute of it. I've signed up because I'm able to enjoy again the process of purchasing cards and spending an hour getting them ready to ship out. I consider it my 'me time' :) I'm happy to get a card regardless if it is past Dec as for me the surprise of an unexpected mail cheers me up and they seem to always arrive when I need it most. My cards are done and off to the mail early tomorrow morning. Yipee :)

Dic 9, 2020, 8:22pm

I seem to have misplaced by cards from 2018 and I'm mildly annoyed by that. I sent out my overseas (sorta) card yesterday, but the rest should be out tomorrow, all things going well.

On a tighter budget than the last couple of years so no new cards (I love excuses to buy new stationery) but thankfully I keep a running stockpile. ;)

Dic 9, 2020, 9:30pm

>45 tardis: I've got you again too! I have two others from last year, too. I thought that was a feature, not a bug. Still need to finish writing mine.

Dic 9, 2020, 11:18pm

All my cards are in the post - with a very varied selection of stamps to make it up to the correct value - a true selection of the variety of stamps from here. Merry Christmas to all - not sure when they will get to you but I'm hopeful that at least the European ones may get there in time.

Dic 9, 2020, 11:39pm

The last of my cards will go out tomorrow, finishing them right now. I'm having way too much fun with stickers, I hope people like them!

Dic 11, 2020, 5:59am

All cards posted with a wide variety of Christmas stamps! I've seen pretty lucky with overseas post sent from the UK so hopefully all will arrive in time

Dic 12, 2020, 7:48pm

Do you think if I put something in the envelope with the card and mail from the US to overseas, will that cause a problem. Not worried about weight but will there be customs issues?

Dic 12, 2020, 9:00pm

First card arrived and it's beautiful. Cheered me right up on this grey, snowy day. I love the annual holiday card exchange.

Dic 13, 2020, 4:24am

>71 dianeham:

Depends on where it is going and what it is (and how much time they have and how unlucky the recipient is). As long as it is not money or anything like that and not something expressly forbidden in the country it is going to and it is small and (mostly) flat (so the letter does not bulk up and mess up machine sorting, it should not be a problem - they won't even realize it is there.

Dic 13, 2020, 12:45pm

>41 varielle: A Krampus card!? Oh, how fun!

Editado: Dic 13, 2020, 12:49pm

>43 timspalding: Shoot! Somehow I missed the notice that we were assigned our people! Today, I got thinking about it and wondered what happened, so came looking.

I'm so sorry to my people that it might be a bit later than intended.

ETA: Mine will be out in the mail tomorrow (Monday).

Dic 13, 2020, 4:43pm

Mine were sent out with the mail yesterday. Of course, I forgot to write my return adress on the envelopes, and hope that won't complicate things.

I too, got a person I already had last year, but it's not a big deal. I made sure they got a very different card, so it doesn't feel too samey to them.

This is not really related to LT, so feel free to ignore it, but I'm curious, do postage costs vary by country/continent where you are? Last year's LT card exchange was the first time I sent international mail, and the fact that sending a card to the US (from Germany) costs the same as sending one to Denmark confuses me. I'm certainly not complaining, just wondering why the one to the US wasn't at least little bit more expensive due to larger distance.

Dic 13, 2020, 7:16pm

>76 Mirabelle: Depends on your postal service's policies. From Canada we pay $.92 (if you buy stamps in a booklet, or $1.07 for an individual stamp) for mail within Canada, $1.30 to the US, and $2.71 to everywhere else. Until February, probably. Prices always go up in February.

Dic 14, 2020, 2:20am

In Denmark prices used to vary, but now they are "one size fits all". For something like a letter or a postcard: Inside Denmark 10 DKR, Outside 30 DKR. Almost nobody sends letters these days, so we've stopped complaining :-) Besides I have inherited some old stamps and they can be used for nothing else than sending letters, so until they are used, it doesn't really cost me anything.

Dic 14, 2020, 2:49am

>78 bnielsen: Yep, same here. SEK 11 domestically, SEK 22 to the rest of the world, be it New Zealand or Denmark. There used to be a postage union within the Nordic countries when I and bnielsen were young, but these days it's "one rate fits all".

Dic 14, 2020, 11:55am

I got one today. I'll be sending out my cards tomorrow. :)

Dic 14, 2020, 12:41pm

My cards in the mail today.
I too didn't see right away when addresses were posted.

Editado: Dic 14, 2020, 6:33pm

Sent mine out today. Turns out they are both within Canada (as am I), so they may make it in time, after all!

Dic 14, 2020, 10:08pm

All my cards are in the mail! Hope they arrive on time.

Editado: Dic 15, 2020, 3:24am

>77 tardis: I happened to mention the usual rate increase in the post office the other day. Apparently there is no rate increase next year, so a few pennies saved at least.

Dic 15, 2020, 3:40am

Also, I found the rest of my cards from the exchanges! They happened to be in a box with, of all things, stamps! I might actually get a proper book so I can save these things in something other than a box.

Dic 15, 2020, 3:51pm

I got my cards out. :)

Editado: Dic 16, 2020, 1:30pm

I sent my cards out a few days ago. I've received one from Lisa (ILuvBookplates). Thanks!

Dic 16, 2020, 2:27pm

I received my first card!
Thank you Heather in AZ.

Dic 16, 2020, 2:29pm

I was hoping to get my card sent out, but alas the person I was matched with only included their name and no address. This is my first year doing the LT card exchange so I'm not quite sure what to do about that!

Dic 17, 2020, 12:35am

My cards finally went out today. I'm hoping at least some arrive on time, but suspect the international ones for sure will be late!

Dic 19, 2020, 5:12am

>89 breakfastatholly: Have you tried perhaps posting privately on their profile page to let the know?

Dic 19, 2020, 9:37am

If there were any stragglers late to the party I will be happy to send a few more cards.

Dic 19, 2020, 10:59am

I have one without address as well. It says "No address entered. Member has been asked.", so I assume LT has already contacted that member.

Dic 19, 2020, 11:52am

>91 WeeTurtle: Oh, I didn't realize private posting was a thing! I'm not usually very social on here haha

Dic 19, 2020, 12:17pm

Thanks to Carrie (cbl_tn) and Sandra (bookscatsetc). Both their lovely cards came yesterday.

Dic 19, 2020, 6:18pm

Received my first card from WeeTurtle today. Thanks!

Dic 19, 2020, 8:58pm

Also happy to send cards to stragglers!

Editado: Dic 20, 2020, 1:47am

Thank you Christine - don't know your lt name.

Dic 20, 2020, 2:59am

>96 amanda4242: Yay! One of them made it on time!

Dic 20, 2020, 9:44am

Thank you Rebecca in Tucson and Nicole in NJ for your lovely cards!

Dic 22, 2020, 10:20am

As of today I have received 12 cards from librarything members. Thank you it's been lovely getting them through the door xx merry Christmas x

Dic 22, 2020, 10:21am

Thank you to Samantha (Yuki_Onna) in Stuttgast, Germany!
Thank you to Stephanie (no LT name) in St. Paul!

Dic 22, 2020, 6:55pm

I got my first card today! From my sister, NorthernStar, of course.

Editado: Dic 22, 2020, 9:46pm

I've got 4 (or 5 -- there is a card (plus a charming chapbook) from someone in UK who may or may not be from LT) so far. :) Always fun to open them :)

Dic 22, 2020, 9:37pm

>104 AnnieMod: ohhh, did you get the one I sent? (Clarissa from Australia)

Dic 22, 2020, 9:40pm

>105 Cfraser:
Not yet - the other 4 are from USA. It will show up :)

Dic 22, 2020, 10:46pm

>106 AnnieMod: oh no, ruined the surprise!

Nothing arrived here yet, but not unexpected being in Australia

Dic 23, 2020, 6:35am

>107 Cfraser:

Nope. Now I know I have an Australian card to look for. Surprises are overrated. :) All good.

Dic 23, 2020, 1:47pm

It feels so good to see all these cards in my mailbox! The only other cards I get are from distant family. I think I've gotten all of mine now, thank you everyone!

Dic 23, 2020, 2:12pm

>109 Heather19: Agreed, I love seeing these different cards coming in! Thank you everyone!

Dic 23, 2020, 3:02pm

Received my second card from anglemark. Thank you!

Dic 23, 2020, 3:23pm

>111 amanda4242: Happy to hear it reached you in time! We have got one so far, the traditional one from bnielsen!

Dic 23, 2020, 4:54pm

>104 AnnieMod: did you get mine?

Dic 23, 2020, 4:56pm

>107 Cfraser: I sent you a card.

Dic 23, 2020, 5:30pm

>114 dianeham: nothing yet but I am sure it will arrive at some point :)

Dic 23, 2020, 10:49pm

My two LT cards went out today. They should arrive by . . er Twelfth Night for sure (US > US).

Dic 23, 2020, 10:56pm

>113 dianeham:

Yep. Loved the card (I keep seeing more animals when I look at it - just noticed that there is a fish in there - and the bookmark had made an attempt to leave the envelope but managed to stay in :)

Dic 23, 2020, 10:58pm

>111 amanda4242:

And yours made it here. :) I love Eeyore :)

Dic 24, 2020, 12:18am

Oh, lots of cards in my mailbox today! I want to thank Jonni from Kansas for the great card featuring books in the shape of a Christmas tree. This is the kind of card I always want to buy for the LibraryThing exchange but can never find. Since I can't post a comment on your profile, I hope you are this note. Your card brightened my day. Health, happiness, and many books for the New Year! 🌲📚

Dic 24, 2020, 4:01am

I got a card today! So surprised I got one from overseas before Christmas

Dic 26, 2020, 2:47am

Every one of my cards from LT arrived by Xmas eve, so thank you LT and USPS!

Dic 26, 2020, 4:12am

Slow post over here so I'm still waiting, though I admit I wasn't too inclined to check the post box yesterday with all the ice on the roads.

Dic 26, 2020, 11:24am

>122 WeeTurtle: I haven't received any, either. Come to think of it, I'm not sure I ever received any last year, either, oddly.

Dic 26, 2020, 11:50am

I have received a few card so far.

>122 WeeTurtle: I don't blame you. I wouldn't check either with ice on the roads.

>123 LibraryCin: I am sorry to hear that. I hope you do receive some cards.

Dic 29, 2020, 5:32am

seongeona my card has arrived from you here in the uk x thank you xx

Dic 29, 2020, 3:10pm

I received a card from Gloria (iamadruid) that arrived right before we left. Thanks, Gloria, it's beautiful!

I got 2 cards today. Thank you Sara in Canada for the moose in snow shoes. And thank you to Lindsay in Michigan - what lovely photos.

Dic 30, 2020, 10:27pm

Well, I got a card today, but I don't think it was someone who got my name (unless it's reciprocal?). It's from someone whose name I got and mailed a card to first!

Was still nice to receive it!

Dic 30, 2020, 11:23pm

>128 LibraryCin:

It is not reciprocal per we but there is no block on it - so it is very possible that they did get your name as one of their list - at least one of my 10 got me as one of their N this year. :) Or they responded to your card - no way to know unless you ask them. :)

Editado: Dic 30, 2020, 11:39pm

I got one! I got one! And yeah, pretty sure I send a card their way as well, possibly the previous year, too.

I've started buying box cards because they're cheaper when on sale but I've lost the book where I note who has gotten what card in the past so hoping things stay new.

How do I track down a profile? Can't remember how I did it last time. Member search somewhere?

Dic 30, 2020, 11:43pm

Easiest way - go to your own profile and replace your name with theirs in the address bar. :) No need to search for them.

Dic 31, 2020, 12:02am

I got 3 beautiful cards today!! I'm so happy :) Thank you to Lynn from Wisconsin; Pat from NY; and Rebecca from OR.

Editado: Dic 31, 2020, 6:01am

>129 AnnieMod: I thought we were paired off with people i.e. every single member we were told to send a card to, also got us as someone to send a card to. I'm fairly sure we have always got exactly the same people as senders that we got as recepients.

Dic 31, 2020, 6:06am

Received another 3 cards today here in the UK. I've had about 20 in total this year which is amazing x

Dic 31, 2020, 11:25am

>133 anglemark:

Nope. I did US only this year and I received at least one Canadian (already here) and one Australian card. And most of my US ones are not from the people I sent to. There is some overlap but I am pretty sure it is not intentional.

International senders May be getting more of the overlap because of the sheer numbers though - especially if the is some preference for it.

Dic 31, 2020, 2:54pm

I've had 3 cards so far and 2 actually arrived before Christmas. Thanks to Nancy in North Carolina, Nancy in Minnesota, and Dina in Canada.

Ene 1, 4:11am

>133 anglemark: I think a lot of overlap happens when people select to ship internationally or overseas. I imagine there are more people sending domestic within the USA that end up sending to each other with the same smaller group sending between North America and Europe, etc. I sent a few cards to the USA, and one to South America. I don't think I sent any overseas.

Ene 4, 5:00pm

I received my first card today - thanks to cfraser in Australia. Much appreciated and I look forward to finding out more about your recommendations.

Ene 4, 5:05pm

My third card arrived today! Thanks, Mirabelle!

Ene 4, 8:53pm

Thank you Tess

Ene 4, 9:18pm

Wanted to post that I received another card today in Canada from Australia! Thank you to "Lady Bookworth" (but not quite - that's what it looks like, but I can't find any members under that name to thank her directly. I tried Lady Bookworth and Lady Book Worth). Real name Faye. Not sure if you are following this thread, but I'm sorry I couldn't find you to thank you on your profile! Happy New Year to you!

Ene 4, 11:40pm

Hey, I discovered a thing: find a member by going to the "members" tab under Zeitgeist and then ctrl+F to text search for the member's name. Click to go to profile. Handy. :)

Ene 5, 2:44pm

>142 WeeTurtle: If you type a member's name in the search box and then on the search result page down the left hand side is a 'members' option which should also return the possible members (it's under the social heading).

Ene 6, 3:04am

>143 Peace2: I tried that but didn't see it but perhaps I was looking in the wrong spot. I like ctrl+f because I often only need the first few letters to filter enough.

Ene 6, 12:19pm

got my last card today!

Thank you Renee in IL and Kirsten in IL

Ene 6, 12:48pm

I'm still waiting for most of my cards :(

I got one (from my sister, NorthernStar) before Christmas. Since then? Nothing. Sigh. Maybe today...

Ene 6, 1:13pm

I'm still wondering if 2 of my cards ever arrived . . .

Editado: Ene 10, 2:56pm

I know of maybe 3 cards that got to their spot. I only got 2 our of my 10. I keep hoping to get more.

Ene 11, 3:52am

It happens. I'm not sure if I've ever gotten 1 for 1. Currently on 3 out of 6 right now, but I'll keep doing it. :). On my end I've heard back from I think 2, but I don't fuss much over it. Not everyone is going to post about it.

Ene 11, 6:10am

I rarely know if my cards make it. I try to message those that send me cards but sometimes I cannot find the person. I am not sure how many I have received. I received another one this past week and I loved getting it late.

Ene 11, 11:17pm

I want to thank everyone who sent me a card. I think I got all that would have been coming to me. They were bright spots at the end of a tough year.

Ene 12, 2:47am

Thank you to Leonie from Cambridge USA (sorry I'm not sure of your user name although I think we have exchanged cards in the past).

I have received 2 so far and have heard that 2 of mine have arrived. There are still some out there somewhere.

Ene 12, 6:54pm

I got a card! That makes two (of ten)! Thanks very much to rgherndon!

Ene 12, 7:00pm

>153 tardis: If you have a lot of US ones coming your way, you may get them around Easter or in the summer - USPS had been... overwhelmed... So don't give up :)

Ene 12, 7:02pm

>154 AnnieMod: Yeah, I've been watching the news, and I feel bad for USPS. Hope they're able to rebuild!

Ene 12, 7:13pm

>152 Peace2: I just got yours today. Thanks!

Ene 13, 1:52am

>156 amanda4242: So pleased it arrived 😊 Happy New Year to you.

Ene 16, 9:06am

Just taking down the nice cards that arrived for Christmas here from
anglemark, Mirabelle, MarthaJeanne and Arjan Moraal. Thanks!

And in the mailbox today a nice frontier Christmas card from C. Ulmann mailed November 27 :-)
(a private card exchange outside the LT one).

Ene 16, 6:11pm

I received my third card yesterday - thank you to riida

Ene 18, 5:04pm

I got my third card today; a very nice card with a kind message from Nicole in Alabama (not sure of LT name).

Ene 19, 5:37pm

Card #4 today, from Katherine (Chesterton, IN). No LT name, so I can't leave thanks on her profile, but the card was a very elegant hand-made one.

Ene 21, 6:24am

Two more! Both mailed before Christmas. I'll have to look up profiles later but thanks!

Ene 25, 4:55pm

Card #5 arrived, from crescentvenus!

Feb 1, 6:20pm

Card #7 arrived from Amy in New Hartford (no LT name). Very cool card of her own design!

Editado: Feb 15, 7:23pm

Card #8 today from amanda4242! It was postmarked Dec. 9th! Very welcome on a quiet day. Also, today is a holiday here - Family Day - so it's perfectly appropriate :) Federal employees like the posties don't get it off, nor do retail, but most others do.

Feb 16, 8:28am

>165 tardis: Wow! 2 months+ for mail.

Feb 17, 8:12am

I'm waiting for a book from the UK. Ordered well before Xmas, so that might take even longer.

Mar 19, 10:01pm

Well, I don't know if it came via LT, but I don't know this person, nor how she would have come across my name/address, nor why should would have sent a card otherwise....

But, I received a Christmas card 2 or 3 days ago from Puerto Rico! This was the only place I could think where she would have had that info and been wanting to send a card.

There's a really cute little felt elf shoe ornament with room to place a small gift, too.

Mar 22, 3:04am

>168 LibraryCin: Nice to hear. I'm still waiting for my book mentioned in >167 bnielsen:.

Mayo 11, 10:47pm

>169 bnielsen:
I ordered an item of clothing from the UK last year, in mid-November. Still waiting.

Mayo 13, 5:54am

>170 Petroglyph: I'm also still waiting for my book mentioned in >167 bnielsen:
I still talk to the bookshop once a week :-)
