I think this looks great. As for illustrations, I'll be honest, no one will ever live up to Lynd Ward
Alas, there are no high-quality editions with Lynd Ward's illustrations. But, I do think the EP illustrations are excellent. They look like woodblocks that have been colored and are perfect for this work.

While I agree with you on the superiority of Lynd Ward's illustrations, I would consider my 2006 Centipede Press edition to be high-quality though not, perhaps, fine press.

>4 kdweber: I actually owned that at some point. In general I really really like Centipede Press and in general I definitely consider them high-quality although not up to fine press standards. BUT, and maybe it was just in my case (although I kind of doubt it), my Centipede Press Frankenstein started to flake! The cover was literally falling apart :(
Well, parts of the cover. It was very similar to leather which is either of poor quality or very old so that it flakes off. Because of that I kinda ignored mentioning the CP Frankenstein. In the end, I found someone who wanted a copy of that even with the defect, so I traded it.

I like the art here a fair bit. Could make an entire hobby of just collecting editions of 'Frankenstein' though - seems a hugely popular title with publishers in last couple of years.

>5 astropi: Well that's not a pleasant experience. None of my CP editions have deteriorated at all but that shouldn't be surprising as the oldest is only from 2006. The 1/4 leather binding of my CP Frankenstein is still perfect. I'd have complained to Jerad.

>7 kdweber: I contacted him. He wasn't unreasonable, but there wasn't much he could do and repairing it was not an option. Also, the book was not exposed to the Sun, or kept in an unreasonable temperature etc. Just defective. Alas.

My copy of EP’s Frankenstein is scheduled to ship next Thursday. I like the illustrations a lot, but as always it is a matter of personal taste.

With the circle of classics horrors from among Easton Press titles published in series almost completed (Dracula, Frankenstein, The Phantom of the Opera, The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde), I would like to see The Picture of Dorian Gray DLE illustrated by Caniglia, or Rick Berry, or Douglas Bell.

>11 EPsonNY:
Also “Hound of the Baskervilles“ and “Poe Stories and Poems“ are in the series. Caniglia and Rick Berry are among my favorite illustrators, too, but I don’t recall Douglas Bell. “The Picture of Dorian Gray” is an excellent idea.
