Separate field for publisher?

In the settings, for the Your Books page, I don't see a field for the publisher. Am I missing it? If it's not there, just curious - why not?

It's labeled "publication". Depending on the information pulled from the source you used when you added the book, the field may also include such things as the date of publication and the location of the publisher.

Example: "Chicago ; London : The University of Chicago Press, 2019."

Out of idle musings, I wonder if there are any plans for a separate field in the works. Not nearly the kind of hill I'd do battle on, but just a thought...

It's very difficult for me to write an excel formula to extract just the publisher, because I never know what else is in the field.

My personal database contains a field for the publisher, and I'd like to populate it with the data in LT.

It would be nice to have a separate field for just the publisher.

>4 margaretbartley: Then what you might want to do it post this in the Recommended Site Improvements group, where changes are proposed:

Adding a publisher field might help with a repeated request for better covers for publisher series.

(Okay, okay, I've repeatedly requested accurate covers for publisher series, but I'm not the only one.)

Even as is the publication field can be used to populate it with publisher only. Conversely, having a separate field would still not be populated correctly without editing because as far as I know sources use the same 'publication' chunk of data. A separate MARC record for just publisher would be needed for it to work

I agree that would be nice - although I would be unlikely to edit my entire catalogue again.

I would ask for two major ponies with regard to this new field:

It has to be exportable
And
It has to be importable.

gilroy (#9):

It has to be exportable

That's easy enough, and I'm sure they'd do that much.

It has to be importable.

Thanks, I needed a good laugh.
