Hi,
I tried to invoke your APIs, but they don't work. Seem to be disabled.
I get this response: "APIs Temporarily disabled."
Is this something you're working on? Trying to fix?
Here is why I ask: I like the catalog management. But your scan mobile application is too limited. I want to make an app that reads text from the book cover and generates a manual entry, if the ISBN wasn't found. Therefore, I was looking to explore the APIs. I need help/an answer asap.
Best regards

Our APIs are indeed disabled for now. They will be re-enabled at some point but we don't have an immediate timeline for it, so I wouldn't expect them back anytime soon. I have marked your account so that we can update you when we have them up and running again.

Is there any other way I can interoperate with the system? I want to build an app that does a better scan for books and manual import books in the system. Or is it possible to integrate the https://openlibrary.org/ source for ISBN? It has many books I can't find. I estimate around 2000 books I'll have to add manually because of that.
Please help.
Best regards

>3 aristoteTheThird: What sources have you tried? If you are looking for decent bibliographic data, it is recommended to avoid Amazon.
Did you check in OverCat? This has the results of searching the library sources we already have lumped into one spot to make things easier.
Also, if you have a comma delimited file, you can import using the import feature on the webpage. If you take out the ISBN (yet leave the space in place) it should bring in the details that match to the upload file, for a quicker manual update. Then it's just adding the 2000 ISBNs.

>3 aristoteTheThird: What you could do as a work around is build a Selenium script to take info from openlibrary and enter that into the manual add form. I have something similar running (with data from my local database).

Same as >2 kristilabrie:, sorry but we don't have an immediate timeline yet for when these will be back. I wouldn't expect them anytime soon, but we'll reach out to you when that does happen. Thanks for your patience!

kristilabrie:
Would it help if you changed the status of the bug to Deferred, so that it can be clear that this has been acknowledged, will not be dealt with for months or years, and that it doesn't need to be bumped every few weeks?

Not sure if it will help, but I'll try it, thanks. :)

Any update on the API coming back?

>10 fowlerjk04: Likely not happening until after our major site redesign project (aka "LT2") is complete, so quite awhile to go still. Thanks for your continued patience.
