Excel export file for Excel import file?

Greetings,
My main goal is to get specific fields in the Detailed Record to display.
I exported my holdings to an Excel file thinking I could use it as a template (using those headers) to do an import. When I try the import, I get the error message that there are no books in the file. Is there a field or field that need to be populated to import an excel file? Or is using this file not possible? I have more fields than the sample template provides.
My original import was a MaRC file. I've modified my MaRC file to get the Detailed Record display that I'd like. I had some luck but was thinking that this excel file might give me better results.
Maybe someone has a better way for me to accomplish this.
Thanks for any assistance! Shannon

There is no way to export and then import your library

Okay. Any suggestions for getting the Detailed Record to display? Is there a list of fields that absolutely will display in the Detailed Record?

What screen are you looking at?
Work Detail? Book Detail? Your Books?

If you are looking at Your Books, across the top in the icons, you can find a gear icon. click on that and you can change the various display styles to show all the detail you want. Some of those fields will even double click to allow you to edit in place.

The Work Detail page and Book Detail page are set as is and no additional details will show.

To Edit works, you can click on the pencil icon to edit each entry. For basics like tags and collections, you can use the Power Edit function (the lightning bolt icon near the gear across the top of the Your Books screen.)

Once a book is imported, there's no way to edit it with another import. (At least not that Tim has admitted.)
