Vonnegut

He’s my favorite author and arguably the most prolific signer of EP editions. I have 15 of his signed Franklins and Eastons and hope to eventually complete a full collection. My questions for the group are what EP Vonnegut editions you think will be most valuable/collectible decades from now.? And what will Vonnegut’s place in literature be when all of the aging baby boomers who grew up reading him have died off? Will his popularity continue with new generations or is his “voice” limited to the time and place of my generation?

Vonnegut should always have readers as long as sci-fi remains a popular genre. The problem of resale will be that he signed so many books that his signatures won’t be rare. James Michener used to quip that his most valuable books were the few he didn’t sign. Likewise, Gerald Ford signed so many pages for EP that they were still trying to sell his books more than10 years after he died. On the other hand, Stephen King’s signed books sell for hundreds and sometimes thousands because he hasn’t signed many.

>1 wrenegade: I suspect the two DLEs (Slaughterhouse, Cats Cradle) with commissioned art and slip case will be the most coveted over time.
