New Series for different edition?

Hello - I'm a LT beginner so apologies in advance if this question is answered elsewhere. I'm not sure if a new series should be created for Fullmetal Alchemist: Fullmetal Edition (I started making one but then realized I should ask before I get any further). The Fullmetal Edition volumes (currently 8 published) don't have the same # of chapters as the regular series, ie the regular volume 3 doesn't align with the content of fullmetal edition volume 3. I'm not sure how to reconcile this number difference within the series.

Hello!

I think the series name on the Fullmetal Edition volumes need to be edited to pull those together in a separate series. Keeping those mixed in with the earlier releases wouldn't make sense, as far as I see.

That was my thinking as well, glad to know I was on the right track. I'll have to separate some volumes into different works since they're currently combined but I think that should be fine. Thanks!

>1 n8bit: But, they're the same books right? They're just different editions (so, instead of one volume, they have 3 volumes in them or something?) Unless they're different characters, different stories, etc. They --should-- be in the same series, otherwise, no one will be able to find them. I always thought that was the point of serieses. Honestly, who cares about chapter numbers?? That's a teeny tiny thing.

So, put it this way. Is it more like the Graphic novel adaptation of Game of Thrones (should be in the same series entry as original novels since it's the same story) or is it Star Trek Voyager vs. Star Trek the Original Series (two different book serieses because, well, they're humongous, different shows, and while they can be all in the same series, that gets distracting and long)

>4 DanieXJ: no, they're not the same books. Volume 1 contains "one and a half of the original novels" plus content not printed in the original series. The differences continue through the series. So someone who has Volume 2 of the Fullmetal Edition would not be holding the same parts of the story or reading the same character information that someone would from Volume 2 of the original series.

Also, I have to disagree with your Game of Thrones example. A novelization should not be combined with an original novel (or screenplay, or graphic novel). The novelization would not be the same work. A series for novelizations should not contain the same books as the series of original novels. Other than the likehood that the two would have different authors, the story and characters would almost certainly differ from the choices made by the screen writers, director, and others of the show dividing the two book series.
