I just posted an update re: future releases from my imprint Black Dog Press:

Sending solidarity for stick-to-itivity! Over here, I recently had a couple of essays published:

http://www.thevoicesproject.org/poetry-library/quarantine-epiphany-by-katy-scrog...

And a mini-review of Edoardo Albinati's excellent The Catholic School (no touchstone available in English, apparently!) is up at NewPages Blog: https://newpagesblog.com/2020/04/09/comprehensive-search-for-explanations/

#2--Congratulations!

Here's my son's latest effort, a short, abstract movie incorporating public domain images from TV commercials back in the 1950s.

The editing is...stunning.

#3: Brilliant! I love that style. Reminds me for some reason of the Société Anonyme, but also of a news broadcast from just a few years before those images; it involved the report of a house that had burned down, and the clip consisted of a hand setting fire to a model house (with a match!) and then watching the result.

I think Sam was influenced by National Film Board of Canada offerings from the 1950s and 60s, the work of Arthur Lipsett in particular.

Thank you for giving it a look.

I've obviously lost my mind, and have started a weekly YouTube series on good books: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMAKNGJLM1q9tfdGqg2a1sA.

Two episodes so far, and many more lined up!

#7: Thank you!! The whole thing is still sort of terrifying, but if not now, when the world's in shambles, when?

Just received a note that items can now be picked up from my local library.

First notification I've received from the library in months and i must say I've missed my bi-weekly trips to snap up books and DVDs.

Yes! That started here a couple weeks ago, by appointment only. Had a stack of stuff on hold.

My wife just posted her latest production, a "cranky" puppet show, on Vimeo. "A Dreadful Visitation" is only about eight minutes long and I think it brilliantly speaks to the times we're living through:

11: Cliff, this is fantastic! Send a shout of joy to Sherron! This is just the sort of project I've always wanted to attempt—and don't know why I've never tried. So glad she's doing it!

Aw, thanks so much. I'll be sure to pass that along.

I love how small scale, intimate and personal her art is.

Never fails to amaze me.

Sherron and I celebrated our 30th anniversary yesterday.

Spent the day in a lovely cabin in Waskesiu (national park) provided by family--and also boating, walking, holding hands.

She gifted me with this amazing sculpture/puppet of my hero Rosa Luxemburg.

Three+ decades with my best pal, Muse and confidante.

Amazing.

Unless there's a last minute cancellation, the day after tomorrow I'll be undergoing hip replacement surgery so I might be absent from this forum--and the internet--for awhile.

Can't wait to get this procedure over with--hopefully, within 6 months I'll get the other hip done as well.

And then, God willing, a return to full mobility.

Have a great holiday season, everyone, and stay safe.

Good luck with your bionic hip. Hope you get a lot of reading done. Happy holidays!

Cliff ... every single person I know who has had hip replacement has been thrilled with the results. At least two of these people had dual surgeries ... one side, then the other some months later. Post op physical therapy is key.

Wishing you a speedy and uneventful recovery from surgery.

Ah, very kind.

I've heard nothing but positive things from folks who have had the procedure done.

Just hoping surgery won't be cancelled because of COVID-related reasons.

Other than that, I feel quite placid about the whole thing.

I had to run that through my universal translator, Ian, and fortunately it doesn't mean "rest in peace".

Gracias, amigo.

Made my first trip upstairs after hip surgery.

Still taking it easy but feeling encouraged by progress thus far.

Hope everyone is doing okay.
