So, I'm looking for ideas. I've realized (fairly recently) that when I hear of a book that sounds like something really up my alley, I rationalize spending the money to buy it immediately instead of putting it off a bit--this is mostly because I tell myself I'll forget if I wait. As a result, I have a feel I spend more on and off that I would if I had one list to rely on and go back to when I planned to buy... So how do you keep wishlists? Is this just a problem for me? I started out keeping one on Amazon, but that's a disaster since it's far too long now, too easy to add to, and doesn't take books off by itself even when I buy them there! Any suggestions or strategies you've adopted, or is keeping a wishlist just a trap to make you buy more?

I don't know how opposed you are to tagging on LT for use as a wishlist. I really didn't want to do it, but for the reasons you mentioned just decided to do it anyway. I add the books to my library and tag them with "want" and nothing else. Then when I am going to my local used book store, I search for "want" in my library and print off the results. Then I can take my list through and see what they actually have that is cheaper than Borders or Barnes and Noble.

This is really useful to me because my used book store is fairly difficult to browse. This way I can always go and get something. Plus, I don't feel the need to go to a full price book store to get things, because there is enough on my list that I can always find SOMETHING from it (usually far more than I had anticipated buying) at that store.

1>I totally agree that it is annoying that Amazon doesn't remove books from your wishlist as you purchase them. It drives me crazy!

I do occasionally go through and clear out the ones I don't need on there any more.
