I'd love to add a feature whereby you can "push" a book to your swap list on PaperBackSwap, and, when you get a book, push it to your LibraryThing account. If you guys agree, someone should raise it--or other collaboration--with them. I get consistently stonewalled. (And all I want to do is offload the swapping from LibraryThing to them...)

That would be a great idea. But every time I post about Library Thing on PBS, it gets taken off the forums- so I think that PBS, especially once it's "Bookshelf" feature becomes fully integrated, will view LibraryThing as a competitor. I would assume that once the bookshelf feature works, you could push books onto and off the bookshelf pretty easily.

I'm amazed. Deleting user messages is playing with fire.
All I want to do is send them traffic. I think having a "post to my PBS account" would be a great feature.
I'm writing them one last time. If they don't respond, I'm going to link to all their competitors, and blog about this.

Go to it! I just signed up with PBS and I would LOVE to be able to push books over there. As a matter of fact I signed up for another LT account just so I could keep that kind of thing separate from my "regular" library :-) I will jump ship from PBS, though, if you can find another swap site willing to do this.

I think you've hit it spot on in regards to the planned PBS book journal. I think it definitely sees itself as a 'competitor' to this site. I just don't see how their interface can compare with LT.
As much as I enjoy trading on PBS, there are a few things I don't like about it (mostly cosmetic), but the good outweighs the bad.

Did you ever get a response to your last writing campaign? I'm just curious.

I'm sending some books out to a friend tomorrow, and I'm wondering about sending a box using the Media Mail rate. I never have before, so I'm not sure how it works. Do I just go to the post office and ask them to send it that way? Do I need a special label, or will writing USPS Media Mail suffice?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Just tell 'em you want to send media mail -- you can write it on the box, but my experience is that they'll stamp it anyhow.

From personal experience... Make sure you go to the counter to mail your package when using media mail rate. If you just apply the correct amount of postage and put it in the post box it will be sent back to you for verification that it contains "media" only.

My own recent media mail experience-
Media Mail (at least for delivery confirmation) only works if a package is over 3/4" thick. Which the most recent DVD I sent out for a swap was not. So then I had to buy an envelope. I think I knew about this before, but didn't pay any attention. Just so you know :-)

Just wondering if any PBSers are still using LT! I just joined LT, and so far, I love it. And I have too many books.

I use LT, but I never remember to check the PBS messageboard. I've also greatly reduced my PBS time, because BookMooch has been servicing my needs better of late.

I'm a member on my pbs. My name on pbs is lisakay. I enjoy the site but I get most of my books thru bookmooch. I like pbs site because by being a member of their boxer club you can get more books for less postage. Look me up I love to do boxes of books.
