Was it sensible for Lacey to become involved with Nick Bell?

No but she didn’t really show good judgment in the last book either. Of course, part of this is probably due to her frustration with Joesbury and their hot/cold relationship

If she could've just made it a short and simple date to try to find out things, that would've been ok. But of course being Lacey she has to push it so it really wasn't a good idea.

I think she always has to step over the line.

Lacey drives me crazy with her personality always putting her self in danger. TSTL

Nick is pushing for a relationship more than Lacey is. She hasn't had any encouragement for Joesbury so... >5 EadieB: What drives me crazy about Lacy is that the police are always placing her in these situations with very little information and then won't listen to her.

I think Lacey is too confident in her own ability to handle things and look after herself. In an ordinary encounter she no doubt could disable a man with one hand tied behind her back, but a killer might be a different matter altogether.
She really should be more circumspect.

Yet more evidence of her poor decision making.
