Elric!

Yes! Elric is finally up. I must say I could have waited another couple of months financially speaking but I am incredibly excited to add this series to my library. Been a fan since the old (Ace?) paperbacks of the '70s. I am looking forward to seeing them in person.

I have the White Wolf omnibus editions that were published back in the '90s and some other assorted editions but I couldn't pass up on the Centipede Press.

I wonder what the total edition is planned to run to, including unsigned copies? Jerad does not say on the website, but I would expect he might be limited somewhere in his copyright agreement. I don't know if he did any unsigned for Gene Wolfe's books, and he did 300 signed and 500 unsigned for the Fritz Leiber series.

Doesn't show up as sold out for me.

I wonder that too and am sometimes torn between buying the signed and unsigned editions. I don't really collect for signatures/limitation numbers; I'm much more interested in the design, illustrations, and binding quality. In this case, and also with the Fafhrd series, I'm glad to have got them so I can rest assured I'll have dibs on all subsequent books in series.

>6 kdweber: it's the signed ones that sold out

It is hard to believe that the edition was completely sold out in just a few hours!
I am glad that I did manage to reserve my copy, though I had a lot of misgivings about how expensive this commitment is with another 6 or 7 books to come in 2-3 years!

I recieved the Elric books yesterday. I'm really impressed by the quality on these; it seems like Jerad pulled out the stops.

1. The book cloth seems of better quality than other recent books like Fafhrd and Kane.
2. The front board is embossed and stamped with color.
3. The illustrations are gorgeous and are printed on heavy stock and have translucent overlays.

Overall, the quality and attention to detail is outstanding, I think. It's going to be an impressive set!

I'm always pretty happy with Centipede titles. Jerad does good work spearheading these things.

I have started reading the 3rd Elric volume, and it is striking to me how much the 2nd (and 3rd somewhat) chapter resembles Lafferty's writing. In my opinion, it has a definite Lafferty influence: the fantastic/unreal situation, the way the dialogues written... everything. It could as well been written by Lafferty himself (not that I think that it actually was). I now can see how influential Lafferty's works were/are.
"Elric" is nice series, but I am also glad for CP Lafferty volumes, and I can't wait for the next one!

Which Elric books are worth collecting next to the CP editions?

Something as nice or as close as possible I mean.

I discovered Elric through Centipede Press, so I do not have any knowledge of other fine editions of Elric. Hopefully, some experts on this forum would be able to answer your question.

This is the constant dilemma of a reader who likes to read nice editions. A book you love might not be available (ever!) in a fine press edition. Or you may only have the choice of one. As a lover of Moorcock, I couldn't resist the CP edition. And my wallet is happy that Jerad is taking his sweet time getting them out (4th volume about to ship).
But for readers, and especially completist readers, the 15 volume White Wolf omnibus editions are nice trade editions and cover the whole Eternal Champion series. You could just search out nice used copies of the the two Elric books, or you could add in the Hawkmoon, Corum, and Count Brass books, or you could go for everything and get into the more obscure incarnations like Kane.

Thanks for that! I can't find what would be the first White Wolf Omnibus. Do you have a photo, please? There are so many common editions swimming around.

>15 RATBAG.: You can see them all in my catalog. The first one is The Eternal Champion. I believe the ISBN of the hardback edition is 9781565041769.

Elric doesn't show up until Volume 5.

Hello,

Does anyone know who made slipcases for the Elric Deluxe Edition ? I have a regular edition and want to order slipcases that look similar to deluxe editions for them.

Thanks.

To my shame, I did not even know that there is a deluxe edition of Elric. I thought all Elric books are produced in one state.

Beautiful! Thank you for informing me about this edition!
To answer your original question, I suggest reaching out to Centipede Press and asking them where these slipcases were made.
If you do communicate with the company that made these slipcases, I would be curious to know how much it would cost to make these specially ordered for my regular Elric set, too.
