Galileo's original letter of 1613 found in Royal Society library

"Galileo’s letter to Castelli is one of the first secular manifestos about the freedom of science". The letter was written to his friend at the beginning of his battle with church authorities. Galileo's editing of the letter supports the Lorini copy, which was sent to the Inquisition, as the original version.
