Hello Everyone,

I am new to this site. I am asking for a little help to get rid of bookworms, please excuse me if i am in wrong place.

I run a second-hand bookstore in Nepal. From last 2 years, I am getting this bug which eats my books something like this image https://goo.gl/images/1Hwjoc . These are very tiny worm. I have observed something, the books gets very cold ,like wet and later these worms appear there. I have tried different measures to prevent these which include cleaning the nest of these, dusting the books. also putting some kerosene in places where they appear(not on the books). I have googled and found some information but these are not like the bugs that i have.

Can you suggest any measure to get rid of them. I had some serious damages from these bugs. I had to discard almost 50 books due to this. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanking you,
Ansuman

The discussion group for this is Book Care and Repair, and this topic has already been discussed there.

Regardless, do you have a freezer?

I've got a stand-alone 12-cubic-foot freezer. Whenever I bring second-hand books home, I place them inside a sealable plastic bag, removing as much air as possible, and place it in the freezer for a week. I used to keep them in there for months, but have since learned that just a day or two suffices.

When you remove the bag from the freezer, DO NOT open it. Let the books get up to room temperature, then wipe away any condensation that may have collected on the bag. THEN, you can remove the books.
