I have walked around with a short list in my wallet for a few years. There is only one name with no strike through.
Too Many Women
I'm going to have to turn loose of thirty dollars to get a paperback aren't I?
Either that or keep hunting.
One more book and it's complete.
Thirty dollars!

I think that book is contained in the anthology, All Aces: A Nero Wolfe Omnibus which I see a used copy on Amazon for $17.57.

Yes, I have that version and that's about what I paid for a hardback copy complete with dust jacket. It irks me that the paperback starts around twice that price. My collector's obsession won't let me leave that blank spot on the shelf.

There's a copy at Amazon-Canada for $1.50 Canadian and shipping 5.62 cndn if i'm reading it right.
I'm just ball-parking here but i think with exchange rate you're still under $10.00 USD there.

That's outstanding!
Or should I say it is satisfactory?
Much thanks.

>1 cactusflinthead: I think Too Many Women is the one Wolfe title over the many years that I never found in paperback, either in a used bookstore or when Bantam reissued almost all of them in the 1980s, I think. I never understood why that one was so hard to find — does anyone know?
Of course, now I'm slowly collecting the ebook versions as they are offered in special sales, usually for US$2.99 or less. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with my paperback collection!

Wow! I did not realize this problem! I know I had a paperback copy of that at one time, but I decided to get all the Nero Wolfe books in hardcover versions, since I reread them frequently and my paperbacks were falling apart. Now I have the anthology which includes the story, but not the paperback.
I ran into this issue with a couple of Margaret Frazer's novels as well.

I found a hardcover of The Black Mountain on Amazon, used. The price was 9.99. There were two other used copies available, one was $197, the other was over $200. The one I purchased is not pristine, and I believe it was a book club reissue. No problem here, I bought it to read, not collect. My paperback was falling apart because my husband and I had read it so many times.

#8 - Ah, The Black Mountain. It's a favorite of mine. I don't own any Nero Wolfe books, having borrowed them from the library to read, but me thinks I need to buy that one.

I think Too Many Women is the paperback I lost and couldn't find a replacement for several years ago. Other than that one, I have them all. Either hardback or paper.
Yep, that's the one. Noted as missing in 2009, still haven't replaced it. Used copies were too expensive at the time. Guess I'll try again now that it has come up.
