It's notoriously difficult to find Scandinavian novels translated into English unless they've been made into movies, so I went through my librarything-list and checked against amazon.com and came up with a few recommendations:
Mikael Niemi's Popular Music from Vittula
Books by Henning Mankell (Swedish) are pretty easy to find (he writes mystery-novels).
Erlend Loe (Norweigan) has a great novel called Naive. Super which has been translated into English.
Carl-Johan Vallgren's (Swedish) Hercules Barefoot is another of my personal favorites, but it's a little odd and I have talked to people who can't get into it (I haven't read it in the English translation, so I can't vouch for that).
Astrid Lindgren is Sweden's most popular children's writer and her books are reasonably easy to find.
Or, if you're interested in classics, you can find books by Pär Lagerkvist and Selma Lagerlöf (they've both won the Nobel Prize in literature).

Many good authors aren't translated. But here's a few:
Contemporary authors:
Lars Gustafsson
P O Enquist
Tomas Tranströmer
Mid 20th century:
Stig Dagerman
Gunnar Ekelöf
(Tranströmer and Ekelöf are poets.) If you read German or French you will probably more easily find translated Swedish authors in those languages.

Thanks to everyone who replied to my posting. I can read a bit of swedish since I lived there for about a year but it isn't enough. My love for everything swedish has brought me to seek books in the subject.

Norwegian author Mette Newth has found success in getting some of her historical fiction novels translated into English. They are very well done.

crime fiction: Karin Alvtegen, Håkan Nesser, Henning Mankell
otherwise (for general drama fiction) you should check out Per-Olov Enquist, Göran Tunström, Pär Lagerkvist, Hjalmar Söderberg, Marianne Fredriksson..
I think they are authors that have been "good" translated into English, some in recent years.
I also recommend Elin Wägner's "Stockholm Stories"..
there are so many great Swedish authors, but sadly not so many get translated into English although they are great.. :-/ Scandinavia literature (both classics and modern novels) are, alas, sadly neglected internationally..
