I think this year will be full of baby projects. Our first grandchild will be born next week. I have so many things planned, I will have to reign myself in! Of course there will be quilts; knitting! so many possibilities; and now dressmaking - haven't made clothes for many years, but who could resist all those gorgeous little rompers and things; also soft toys; cross stitches for the walls . . . Yes, I am a little bit excited :O)

This is the first thing I have knitted for a few years. A very simple garter stitch pattern. Hoping I can get back into some more complex patterns too.

Finally finished and gifted this one to my friend for her 60th Birthday in December.

*not sure how to reorient this one. Sorry.

Congratulations on the arrival (soon) of your grandchild! That's exciting. I'm looking forward to your baby projects, with the baby modeling them of course!

Congrats on the coming grandchild! And I agree with Lynda - those colors are gorgeous.

That's quite a nifty sweater and hat. How lucky your grandbaby will be (and much admired I'm sure when wearing your creations. )

I didn't even realize at first that the quilt was sideways. All those stars! How lucky your friend is.

That's a beautiful quilt, and some of my favorite colors. I hope she loves it!

I like the sweater! I'm looking forward to photos of he/she wearing it!

I made a quilt for them to take places to let him play on, and more recently a larger quilt for his bed (as he is nearly 3). As babies they sleep in "sleep sacks" now, no blankets. Amanda (amandameale) sent Oliver a lovely, soft, small blanket she knit (Australian wool!) and it was the best blanket when he was small. It was a simple basketweave type pattern.

Did you ever finish the 365 block quilt?

I think she did love it. There were tears :O)

I want to make so many quilts for this poor baby. I'm finding it hard to stop myself! The sleep sacks are something new to me too.

I finished all the blocks, but have not put it together yet. There are some blocks which I would like to redo - I made some mistakes and thought I would just overlook them, but with my personality, I just can't do that! So I will pull them all out again and have a look at what needs doing. Luckily I still have plenty of fabrics to use.

Eleanor Rose Lim was born safe and sound on Monday. Just a tad over 3kgs, so she is only a little tiny thing and so far, doing all the right things!

You must be very busy fawning over that grandchild, Judy. Too busy to quilt?

Right on Lois! They are still living here with us until Megan can drive again, so I am doing lots of cuddles and settling and washing, so much washing! I am finding a little time for quilting - I'm putting one together for the baby - making it up as I go - doing one row at a time. I just need to come up with one more row to finish it off. I will post pictures soon.

As promised, here is a photo of what I have done so far. None of the rows are joined, and the applique elephants aren't finished yet. Most blocks are 6 inches finished. I need one more row to finish off - thinking of doing some hearts, but any suggestions welcome. Also considering doing another row of flying geese, but they are only 4 inches. Any thoughts on what I could do to improve / add to what I have?

ETA I'm now considering putting a strip of the dark grey between each row. Opinions?

How fun! I think you could add the grey strips but it's certainly fine as is.

I haven't sewn clothes for such a long time. This is my first attempt in ages. I think it is pretty cute. But I have to work on sewing curves . . . mine are pretty choppy!

>24 judylou: I admit it's been some time since my last garment sewing, too (black velvet, fur-trimmed cape for daughter's wedding in '09, think) Your project is indeed pretty cute! We'll want a photo of her in it eventually, you know :-)

Congrats on the first grandbaby. I love the name Eleanor, so glad it's getting more use again. Hard to craft much when there's a baby to snuggle and coo over! Love the quilt too.

>24 judylou: It's better than I can do. I've always been horrible at sewing. It's a wonder I can cross-stitch. At least I have specific fabric "holes" there!
