Welcome to my 2018 thread!

About Me
I'm Kriti, a 28-year-old software engineer. I work from home in a small town in Ohio and I'm a homebody so I live a pretty quiet life. This is my eighth(!) year with the 75 Books Challenge group. I'm not the most talkative person, but I really enjoy being part of this group and try to keep up the best that I can.

Books
I read a lot of fantasy and science fiction, some non-fiction and general fiction. I review some books on my blog, Just a World Away, and you can see a full list of this year's reviews in post #3. I don't have many goals or categories – I just read what I want, although some of my reading is driven by the review copies I receive from publishers. The few reading goals I do have are listed in post #2.

Movies
In October 2015, my husband and I decided to watch a movie together every single day and we're still going strong! I try to review all the movies we watch on my blog (one post per week) and you can see a full list of this year's reviews in post #4.

I am always in awe of organization since I lack the need for it. I'm a do-it-just-cuz kind of a reader. Wow. I'd never make it through even one book a decade if I had to think it through this carefully!

>32 foggidawn: Thanks Foggi!

>33 richardderus: My organization is mostly just wishful thinking; I tend to read whatever I'm in the mood for and then organize my reading after the fact. I've never successfully completed any of my category-based reading goals or book bingo cards. Even the books I have filled out for the /r/Fantasy book bingo above are ones I read on a whim and then looked through the bingo card afterwards to see if I could slot it in anywhere.

Hi Jeff (and a very belated hello to everyone that stopped by in January)!

I haven't posted here since January so I thought I'd post a quick update: I'm doing all right, I (suddenly) decided to stop reading fiction as a way to motivate myself into making some changes in my life/habits. It's going slowly but I'm making progress, I'm not sure when I can resume my usual reading habits, but I hope it will be fairly soon. I have a lot of books I've been looking forward to reading arrive over the last few months. Also, my job situation has also been in flux all year but that's an ongoing issue so I'd rather not talk about it until it is over.

I have been reading, although not as many books as usual. The more recent books have been about how humans and our brains work, some of which are relevant to what I'm working on with myself. I'm not sure how many of them I'm going to review (probably none) but the two books I'd recommend for a general audience are The Body Keeps The Score and Emotional Intelligence – they both collate various neurological, psychological, anthropological, etc. studies and explain how the brain and body process and store experiences (The Body Keeps the Score focuses on trauma, Emotional Intelligence focuses on emotions). I found them both fascinating.

I do want to get back to blogging, I'm thinking of doing more author interviews and giveaways since I haven't been reading any fiction to review. I have a couple of books that I read months ago that I haven't reviewed, so I'm hoping to get to those soon.

Hey Kriti, glad you're still around. Good on ya for recognizing you needed to work on yourself and having the strength to do so.
