Hi, all! Didn't see a thread for November BingoDOG reads yet, so I figured I would create one.
I'm currently reading Case for Three Detectives by Leo Bruce, which I'm counting for the "satire" square. Actually it's a parody, but that's close enough, right? The book is a lot of fun so far...the titular three detectives are thinly veiled spoofs of Lord Peter Wimsey, Hercule Poirot, and Father Brown. :)
After this one, only two more squares to go! How is everyone else doing on their Bingo cards? Are there any squares that still prove elusive?

Hi, I'm one square short of a full Bingo, and I'm having trouble finding an author with my initials.

>2 MissWatson: What are your initials, if you feel comfortable sharing? And what genre(s) would you be interested in reading? We can crowdsource this!

>2 MissWatson: Is there an author you'd read with the initials MW (from your username)? I read a Peter Robinson novel (reverse of my "initials" on here) instead of looking for an author with my real initials :)

For #6 Author uses initials, I read A Detective Under Fire by H.R.F. Keating. Earlier this month I finished A Trick of the Light by Louise Penny for #25 Next in Series.
Only two squares to go. My aim was to spread it out over the year but it started to look like I was cutting it fine.

>3 christina_reads: >4 rabbitprincess: Thanks for the suggestions! The initials are BG, last time I turned them around and read Gwen Bristow. I just came across an Israeli author, Batya Gur, who writes mysteries, on a German book-swapping site, so I'm giving her a try.

I finally got another square. I read the Valancourt Book of Horror Stories: Volume Two for the short stories square. I've got four open squares remaining, and I'm not sure if they will be filled.

I had thought of reading The Spy Who Loved Me by Ian Fleming for "published in the 1940s-1960s" but it was awful!. Too bad, the girl is a Canadian called Vivienne. It was his most unsuccessful book and no wonder.
Back to the drawing board.
ETA: I've since read that Fleming didn't write this one. When the movie was made the only thing he permitted to be used was the title.

I just finished Spliced by Jon McGoran, who shares my first and last initials.
4 more squares left to a full card!

I filled my last square with Denn am Sabbat sollst du ruhen by Batya Gur, who shares my initials. Otherwise I wouldn't have picked this up, psychoanalysis is not a topic that interests me much. A solid mystery with an unfamiliar setting in Jerusalem.

I finished The Black Book by Orhan Pamuk for the 'book about books' square and also Summer by Edith Wharton, published in 1917.
That gives me 2 more bingos and I have 5 books left to complete the card, which if I do it will be a first for me. I have all the books picked out too, so chances are good!
Congrats MissWatson on finishing your card!

Filled the "set in a beach community / resort" square with Calamity in Kent, by John Rowland, set in the seaside town of Broadgate.

I’m about to start Piccadilly Jim by P.G. Wodehouse, which was published in 1917. This is my penultimate Bingo square!
