An excellent choice.

I guess now I'll have to read it!

I’m a little over halfway through it, and it is excellent so far. It’s unlike any other novel I’ve ever read, and I’m not the least bit surprised that it won.

Hm.... I really liked it while reading, but as I said on my 75books thread, it's a book I read, enjoyed, put away and was done with. I like Bookers to have more of a lasting impact on me. So - not really happy, but at least this year it's a book I liked and from the SL it was my second choice.

Thank you very much.

Can't escape it.

(Also, always glad to remember what a splendid person John Berger was.)

I feel dumb. I am listening to the audio version and I am hopelessly lost (and a little bored, I dare say). Is this just something that doesn't translate well to audio ? Should I read the book instead? What am I missing ?

>6 Deern: I feel exactly the same.

>9 Yells: I heard many complain while listening to the audio version. I think this might be a book better read in the paper version.

Missing a great story. Once you get use to the format it's written in. You be glad to have read it. I'm reading it a second time and finding I'm getting more out of the novel second time around.

I returned the audio and am now on hold for the paper version. I definitely want to read it but it doesn't translate well to audio.
