I just found this group. I crochet when I am watching TV (sports usually, as I am at the computer for most other tv viewing) and when in the car on long trips. I mostly do accessories, as I get bored easily, but right now I am working on several Lion Brand patterns where they've had really good sales on kits for tops and wraps. AND I am getting ready for a long road trip, so I expect to complete three of them in the next few weeks! These were my last few projects, but I still need to work out handles or straps for the purse.

>1 ronincats: Hello, and welcome to one of my favorite corners of LT. There are plenty of knitters here, and quilters, but you may be the first person with crochet projects that I've seen in a while. I really love the hat in the second photo; it looks perfect for winter.

Welcome Roni! I'm one of the aforementioned knitters but I'm open-minded, ha ha. I love seeing crochet projects because I learned some basic stitches as a kid and never did much more with it than make bracelets. Your projects are beautiful! I can't wait to see more.

Welcome, Roni! My mom was a big crocheted, though she mostly stuck to various types of granny squares to make afghans. I'm happy to still have a few of her pieces, and they make me smile to look at them.

Welcome! I don't crochet, but my Nana did (my mother knit). And I do have a favorite crocheted afghan. Is that a beret in the top photo? It's lovely.

The only crocheting I've ever tried was some snowflakes once and a couple of afghans. But looking forward to seeing what you do. Great looking things.

Thank you for the welcome! I wasn't sure how active this group was, so this is nice. I should mention that I followed Julia (rosalita) over here from her thread in the 75ers group, to see her cowl.

>5 avaland: Actually, that's a purse, a bag--you are seeing the front of it and I still have to put the handles on. And my Nana taught me how to crochet as well.

By the way, the pottery you see in two of the pictures is mine as well, and I also do wirework jewelry, as Julia knows from my other thread, which is here. Cats and garden pictures also abound.

>7 ronincats: I'm so glad you followed me here, Roni! And I can attest that your pottery and wire work is really amazing. I love seeing your latest creations. You are a gifted artist in many mediums!

Welcome to the group! I used to crochet, but haven't done it for ages. One day I will take it back up again. I am always seeing cool crochet projects on the internet.

So I DID get a lot of crochet done on my trip but am just now putting projects together. I have a request for opinions here. This is the pattern:

And here is my admittedly amateurish attempt to photograph my project.

The question is: should I fringe or not fringe?

Wow, nice work! That's beautiful. I don't usually go for fringe, but it does add a certain flair. Perhaps you should ask your cat? :)

That doesn't look amateurish at all, Roni! And I would vote for the fringe — I'm not normally high on fringe but if you made it really long like in the pattern I think it would look pretty nifty. I'm sure your cat would vote for fringe — hanging yarn to bat around and play with? Please!

Another one here going with the fringe. It will give that extra oomph to your lovely flaring.

I'm also usually a no fringe person, but in this case, I think the fringe would look good.

Me too!

Okay, the fringe element has it; it's unanimous!

Late to the party, but definitely the fringe. Although it's not the same thing, it does remind me of the crocheted granny square vests we wore in the early 70s. Wish I had kept that...it was a favorite.

>19 ronincats: That bag is unbearably cute. Please do NOT say where it can be purchased. The last thing I need is another bag. On the other hand, I think that *you* should have it.

So, this last weekend was my biggest craft show of the year, and I sold the gray "poncho"! I never did fringe it--I started it and it was going to take forever and in person didn't really seem to add to it. Although this girl isn't the one who bought it, I asked her to model it for me as she was perfect! And I finished my capelet and the handle for the purse.

Wow! Congratulations. I love the way the poncho turned out. It looks great and I agree, doesn't need the fringe to be a beautiful garment.

I too have to agree that the poncho doesn’t need the fringe. It looks much different on than it did in the other picture. That girl should have bought it - it looks great on her.

>25 ronincats: I like the poncho draping as it does. Congratulations on selling it. It makes me wistful for a favorite pink & purple granny square vest I had in the early 70s...
