Hello All,
I just joined LibraryThing with the plan to use it to catalog my middle school science classroom library. I read the thread here about tags and found that interesting. I'll have to think about what words to use.
With so many different strategies and suggestions about how to catalog our libraries I was hoping for some advice from those who have set up a classroom library. I'd love to hear your tips before I get started!
Thank you

thank you. That's just how I would approach it....IF I were teaching ELA...Being a Science Teacher brings a different approach to organizing. I am hoping someone has some advice specific to my subject.

Are most of your books science-related? Are they fiction or nonfiction?
First I would separate fiction vs nonfiction.
For nonfiction, I would tag by subject:
General science (encyclpedias, collected works)
Math
Astronomy
Physics
Chemistry
Earth Sciences
Fossils and dinosaurs
Biology – plant
Biology – animal
Technology
Medicine and health
Engineering
Agriculture

I noticed Teachers Pay Teachers have several genre labels for classroom libraries. Don't remember the price, but probably under $5.
