Hi all,

I'd like to try something a little different. Instead rushing nominations through at the end within only a couple of weeks' time, I'm going to start nominations now and leave them open until mid-June. Then we'll have from mid-June to mid-July to vote on the finalists. Hopefully this will work a little better than our current system.

Just a reminder on the nomination rules:

Any author chosen in the last 2 years (see the group wiki for the list) is not eligible again.

Previously nominated authors who didn't win can be nominated again.

You have up to 4 nominations of your own as well as 4 chances to second other's nominations. Any author who is seconded gets into the final vote.

Deadline: Let's all get our nominations in by June 15 so we can start voting and have plenty of time to get our reading selections in order.

>2 elena.trintas: Hi Elena, that's a fine idea, but we usually select one author and then group members decide which title from that author's works that they want to read. In other words, we don't all read the same title, just the same author.

I'll second Jhumpa Lahiri; I've been interested in reading her books for a long time now and just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Looks like there will be several candidates to vote for, but I'll throw out a few last-minute nominations nonetheless in case anyone fancies any of these authors:

Jim Harrison
Elizabeth Strout
William Trevor

DANG, got caught up in R/L & didn't make it back to second anyone. :-(

Will I still be able to vote if I did not second an author?
