"+Add to your books" from "Search Site" fails to Add

As an experiment I tried to add "Creme e gelati" (no author!) to Your(My) Library by using the Search Site search box. Firstly I put the title in the Add Books search box which then fails to find the book in most library sources. Next using the Search Site search box, it correctly locates the book from Richfran's collection (my brother-in-law). However when I click on "Add to your books", it simply returns to the main Add Books tab without actually adding anything.

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? I hope I have explained the situation adequately.

Note- I know the book exists in the Italian National Library which is where we originally added to Richfran's collection but I was experimenting with the feature being a new member of this great site.

This is how LT works. The button switches you to the Add Books page with the title filled in in the search field there.

Thanks for this information.

Which is an annoying feature - really the button should be renamed to 'Search for this book' to better reflect what it actually does.

By my way of thinking:

*If the book is manually added, ask if the member wishes to copy that record before defaulting to search (very useful for POD or PDF books where often there is no ISBN or ASIN - yes, I have several hundred of those to add - some are already in LT and I really don't want to spend hours combining)
*If there is an ISBN or ASIN recorded in that record, default that into the search box
*Use the title to search and also add author, publisher, date etc when recorded. This would be particularly useful when you want a specific edition of a popular work and don't want to search through several hundred possibles...

>4 Maddz:

The trouble with your first two points is that the button appears on work pages, as well as book pages, so there will be many ISBNs, some manually-added copies and copies from many sources in most cases. Putting the button only on book pages would mean you could use it as you suggest but would confuse people for why it doesn't show up most of the time.

Adding author would help a lot.

Why not be consistent everywhere? Use the same icon as the app for (+) add to books

"+ Add to Your books"
"+ Add to wishlist"
Look like twins, but each does something different than the text says it does.
